Nina Agdal brings us sunshine on this cloudy day, and more news from 'our girls' for your Tuesday Swim
ITEMS OF A NEWSY NATURE
- Something about this Nina Agdal for Mambo video makes me want to watch Laguna Beach reruns and/or grab a stack of Solo cups and crash some high school kids' beach bonfire.
- Marie Claire has an interview with Sonia Dara (Swimsuit '10), but not for the reasons you might assume. Now a marketing manager at Microsoft, the 24-year-old who still models part-time offers advice on landing a tech job.
- Gigi Hadid continues to log those catwalk miles; yesterday it was at London Fashion Week where she walked for Giles Deacon.
- Judging by her shots for Italian magazine MUSE, I'd venture to guess that Carolyn Murphy still gets carded—at 40. It's her discontent with the new generation of models that is far more age-appropriate, telling the mag:
[In the early 90s] we were part of a generation that functioned on feeling — music, art and fashion all went hand in hand, one inspired the other, relationships were real. Nowadays, it all seems so corporate and calculated...nothing seems authentic. Models' careers last a half a minute and there isn’t much personality because all their noses are in their phones or iPads [and] all they worry about is their next selfie and self-promotion.
