@rlmcfadden1 My number one beauty inspiration-I couldn't let this one go: Althea Gibson. She was the first black female athlete to cross the international lines of the tennis world. First black female athlete to win a Grand Slam. She then went on to win many more. If that were not enough, after she retired from tennis, she became a pro golfer. This woman was beautiful inside and out. She chased her dreams and made her dreams come true. To me, she is a number one beauty inspiration. Beauty is way more than just is what on the outside.

Hi Joanna!

LOVE these questions, although I feel like I'm late to the party. Feels like one of those quizzes I used to take in Seventeen Magazine or Cosmo :)

What are some ways you practice self-care? Going for walks (by the beach if possible), watching a great television program and baking.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration? My number one beauty inspiration is my Mom. She never wears makeup and looks beautiful without it. She takes great care of her skin and feels beautiful rocking it.

How would you describe yourself in one word? Compassionate.

What is one item you cannot leave the house without? A jacket lol. I run eternally cold.

What is your strangest beauty hack? Using Neutrogena Makeup Wipe Removers to get rid of deodorant stains. Works every time.

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual? Mornings are all about getting a good breakfast in and a positive start to my day. Lots of water and a protein-packed meal leave me feeling fueled. Nighttime is time to wind down with favorite TV shows, time speaking with friends/family and cuddling with my dog.

XOXO

@JoannaGiunta inspired by @SajeNicole d to post mine.... I use olive oil as a makeup remover, works wonderful especially around the eyes! Has helped keep this 35+ girl’s skin around the eyes smooth. Been doing it since my teenage years. Another is taking in a fish oil and green tea every day, as I believe a lot of beauty is literally from the inside out :)

@JoannaGiunta I can’t leave the house without my hand cream or lotion. What is a girl to do without it? Especially a woman in healthcare who needs to wash those hands a lot :)

@JoannaGiunta my number one beauty inspiration is someone’s soul. Someone who has been through a lot, maybe experienced hurt but still shows so much love, kindness and wonder to the world and others ❤️

Favorite self care has to be yoga and the spa. Working with people and their emotions all day can sometimes off set my energy as an empath; so yoga is so very nourishing to my mind, body and soul. It allows me to be present and really take inventory on the day. I Always feel refreshed energetically after a yoga session.

One of my beauty hacks is to put Vaseline on my lashes before I curl them and put mascara on them to help them stay curled. Haha not sure if that’s really true but it works for me!! -@taylorbsharpe

Hello - my biggest number one self care and beauty hack - is going within and listening to my intuition - Whenever I feel doubt or scared or unsure - I make sure to do this. I find my strength and I feel empowered to follow my dreams and stop caring what everyone else thinks!

I practice self care in many ways emotionally and physically I love to get out on my long board and just go for a ride it really helps me get out of my head and relieve stress as well as getting some cardio in. When you put good in you get good out.

My number one beauty inspiration may be a bit cliche but Gigi hadid she is so effortlessly and naturally beautiful and I think everyone's natural beauty is the best kind.

I would describe myself as energetic I have one life to live with plenty of time in my later years to slow down.

One thing I can not leave is my mascara; it just adds a little boost to to your natural look

My strangest beauty hack would have to be my Jamaican black castor oil when I go to castings requesting no makeup i curl my lashes and apply a small amount of this to open up my eyes and its good for the lashes. The no makeup makeup look.

Every morning I always wash my face with a gentle cleanser, I then apply a hydrating toner and finish it with an spf.

My night time ritual consists of washing my face, using toner and my night time serum while using a face steamer to get that flawless skin.

Hi Joanna and the SI Swimsuit Team. IG: VenantaAlexandria

What are some ways you practice self-care?
I begin each morning with a manifestation and a gratitude journal to help myself center and focus on what’s important and what is good. I started this recently as the world seams to be going upside down to keep my priorities straight and begin my day on the right foot so to say 🤗🌼

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?
I think beauty is reflected in the soul. In confidence, intelligence, wit, kindness and drive. So many women reflect that, in appreciating their uniqueness and making it their signature beauty mark. I couldn’t name just one as there are so many, but at the top of my list would definitely be Ashley Graham, smart, driven and of course stunning. ❤️

How would you describe yourself in one word?
One word I would describe myself by is Strong. I think the saying is so tru that it isn’t about how many times you fall but in how many times you get back up. I’ve had my share of stumbles but I’ve gotten back up each time, with grace and hope for a better tomorrow.

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?
My Wallet! To do some adulting things!

What is your strangest beauty hack?
Vitamins! Vitamin B12 and Iron supplements. I recently found out I’m anemic, and vitamins have made a world of a difference to how not only my whole body reacts but how my skin looks and feels!

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?
I keep a gratitude and manifestation journals for mornings to help me get centered and focused on what’s most important and on what I want to achieve. I think the things we focus on expand, so focusing on the positives and my hopes is the best way I can start my day on the right note.
Evenings are sacred to me, it’s the time to unwind and enter into the feminine or yin side of the day. I turn off social media, grab a book or my favorite film and prepare myself for rest and rejuvenation. 😴

Thanks Joanna! Look forward to more of these! Xox

Hi @JoannaGiunta I hope this conversation is still open haha.

What are some ways you practice self-care?
I try to remind myself to live in the moment. If we do this we realize how lucky we are.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?
My mom. She had a problem when she was younger that created dark spots on her cheeks. She doesn't like them and has tried endlessly to make them disappear, with no success. But I don't see them at all, she is beautiful no matter what. She will always be.

How would you describe yourself in one word?
Passionate

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?
Phone, oh my. It sucks but it is my communication system, map, music player, puppy spy, photo taker, plus more! Haha

What is your strangest beauty hack?
If you want your nails to dry faster. Put on a tiny drop of baby oil on each nail, wait a few minutes and voila!

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?
Morning ritual: every day before I do anything I drink a glass of water, say what I am grateful for, and ask for what I wish to have to the universe.
Nighttime ritual: text loved ones, watch an episode of friends, squeeze my puppy goodnight.

Thank you for your and the team's spirit and for bringing light to so many people.

What are some ways you practice self-care? I fast walk 5-6 miles 5-6x a week. Walking adds years on to your life and it's one of the best forms of exercise!

Who is your number one beauty inspiration? I love Shakira. She's naturally beautiful and sexy without even trying. Oh, and girl can move!!

How would you describe yourself in one word? Free-spirited

What is one item you cannot leave the house without? My lip gloss! I thought I forgot it the other day and I started hyperventilating - haha!!

What is your strangest beauty hack? hmmm..drug-store lip gloss, but not that strange...mixing in a little self-tanner, BB Cream, and face cream in my hand and applying it on my face!

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual? Wash my face and put on face cream. I can't really be bothered to do much more than that - haha! Always wash face - day and night - that's my most important one!

I'm going to post these every once in a while - so keep an eye out!

Thank you!!! Rhonda Hope

Hello from California!
I am so excited to be entering in this years swim search! My instagram is @desiree.mercado
What are some ways you practice self-care?

Self-care is very important to me and I try to stay in tune with my body to prevent getting burnt out or too stressed. I am currently getting my masters right now in medical sciences, by being in this rigorous program I learned how important self care is. I practice self-care by hanging out with my friends and family, grabbing my favorite dessert (ice cream of course!), or by just taking the day to watch some movies guilt free! Whatever I feel that my body tells me I need, I always make sure to listen.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?

I would have to say my mother is my beauty inspiration. My mom holds herself with such elegance and I always viewed her as a tasteful woman. The way she carries herself is with such grace and respect, no matter what she wears she will always look great!

How would you describe yourself in one word?

In one word, I would have to describe myself as love. I recognize how cliché that may sound but its what I live by and how I treat others! I give my love freely without expecting anything in return and I really value my lovingness.

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?

My hoop earrings! I always have extra pairs in my purse and in my car just in case I do accidently leave the house without my signature earrings!

What is your strangest beauty hack?

I use hairspray on spray it on a spoolie to give my eyebrows a more fluffy look! Its kind of funny having a bottle of hairspray next to my makeup bag but it works well!

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?

My morning ritual is waking up typically around 6:30 in the morning either by my alarm clock or my turtle swimming wanting me to feed him! After that, I'll brush my teeth and grab my coffee for my typical morning study session!
As for nighttime, my ritual consists of catching up with my sisters and friends after a long nighttime study session!

What are some ways you practice self-care?

I practice self care with candles, readings, exercise, food, things that make my spirit light up! Adventures. Beauty rituals 💕 I’m learning things that help ease my heart and mind, and paying attention to those things I usually ignore because they’re painful.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?

My number one is the women in my family. Abuela is beautiful on her own, through her traditional yet simple approach, and always presenting herself with elegance. She always puts herself together, and I will always appreciate that.

My mother introduced me to skincare by way of lifestyle. What I eat and do and use (taking care of my eyes and sunscreen!), affect my body. So she took a Beautiful holistic approach. She is like Cleopatra when it comes to natural beauty rituals.

How would you describe yourself in one word?

Enigma

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?

Water!

What is your strangest beauty hack?

I’m a nerd and am into ceramides to protect my skin’s barrier. Though I would say, making funny faces and exercises called face yoga are another one. 🤓

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?

I light candles and incense, open my window, say a prayer, and pull out my cards for the day :) then I like to make my bed, maybe roll around for a bit! Put on some loungewear that feels sexy! Brush my teeth and hair. Move around. Drink water.

Nighttime is similar! Hygiene is important. Winding down while setting the mood is essential. I take a little more care with my skin and hair, as sleeping time is restorative.. so I can use products that would otherwise be photosensitive. I fall asleep journaling and listening to healing channels.

This was fun and introspective! I look forward to more posts and assignments!

I exercise daily...waterskiing, spring board diving, paddle board or running. That is my best self care & de-stress time

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?
My grandmother. She is Hungarian & absolutely beautiful. Crystal blue eyes & great skin! Her dream was to have one of her granddaughters on miss America...instead I’m going for SI Swim! She will love it!

How would you describe yourself in one word?
Badass!

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?
My bathing suit!! You never know when an opportunity will arise to waterski or swim or jump off a diving cliff!

What is your strangest beauty hack?
Salicylic acid around my nose & chin in the morning so I don’t develop “maskne”...I wear a mask all day long at work!

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?
I waterski every morning before work...take a quick shower & go! It’s invigorating! At night I wash my face & use Rodan & Fields PM Redefine night cream. Keeps the wrinkles away!

Hi Joanna this @the_dymi some ways that I practice self care is to make sure I don’t overwork myself and spending time to do the things I enjoy doing and remembering not to take everything so seriously! Doing yoga, going to the museum, hanging out with my friends or just relaxing watching TV with my boyfriend.

hello beautiful people!

• What are some ways you practice self-care?

some of my favourite ways to practice self-care include alone time, honestly if you can get some time to yourself I highly recommend it! Walking barefoot outdoors helps me reconnect with my roots and feel a sense of being grounded. I enjoy floating in the ocean, swimming, free diving honestly anything in the water which is why I live in Grand Cayman! I talk to myself every morning and night, remind myself of things I've overcome, things my body allows me to do and the things I am blessed to have.

• Who is your number one beauty inspiration?

This is a no brainer!! I've ALWAYS BEEN SO INLOVE with Audrey Hepburn, her poise, philanthropist work, her grace and kindness! Aswell as the one and only Cindy Crawford everything about this human leaves me in awh. from model, to actress, business women she's conquered so much!

• How would you describe yourself in one word?

ambitious. First time I heard the word to describe me was my elementary school graduation! Who knew!

• What is one item you cannot leave the house without?

My water bottle hahaha I sweat non stop living in the caribbean need to keep up with my water intake!

• What is your strangest beauty hack?

• What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?

Morning ritual: I have these scratch cards with daily or weekly tasks either focused on confidence, love, relationships etc ill pick one at random (they are in a bag beside my bed) and focus my attention that day on whatever the practice is! I practice self care through working out. My number one beauty inspiration or person I go to for beauty advice would be my mom since she is a fashionista and always dresses up. I would describe myself as caring and determined because I wear my heart on my sleeve and never give up. I cannot leave my house without my phone. I hate to say that because I do believe it’s also good to disconnect. However I still feel it’s important to have a phone with me in case of emergencies. My strangest beauty hack is that I sometimes only use my makeup eraser and warm water to clean my face because my skin can be super sensitive to certain cleansers. Many cleansers can be too harsh for skin and actually give me rosacea. I also really love vitalprotein collagen which helps prevents breakouts and rosacea.
My morning ritual is being greeted by my 11 month old pup 🐕 , drinking my coffee with vital protein collagen, clean the house, get myself together, and go to the gym. My night time ritual is to cook dinner for my bf and I, work on my masters program school counseling homework, horse training with my bf, spend time with my bf and dog watching movies, look through the SI swim search page, chat with my SI sisterhood on our group chat, respond to emails/messages for modeling work, and write in my daily prayer journal. 🤍🤍🤍 😍🥰

Hiii @JoannaGiunta !

  1. Some ways I practice self-care is making time for myself. I love to be around people, but I do need some alone time to recharge. I could be reading or going on a bike ride. Anywhere I can really clear my head. I also love love love going to get massages! They're soooooo nice!!

  2. I wouldn't say I have a top #1 beauty inspiration, but I feel like I look towards women such as Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna for an overall beauty inspo in health and wellness, beauty looks, and simply feeling damn good and confident in myself. I also like Gwyneth Paltrow who promotes the many benefits of holistic healing therapies. That stuff is always so interesting, and beautiful to me.

  3. One word to describe myself is ambitious... with a dash of calm.

  4. I don't ever leave the house without putting sunscreen on. I also bring my water bottle, and a ball cap with me most places.

  5. My beauty hack... a dab or two of coconut oil on my face for moisturizer. I also like to use mascara brushes that have just ran out to not only brush my eyebrows, but it sometimes helps them look fuller (if needed).

  6. My morning routine starts with some water, making coffee, making my bed, then getting ready for the day (usually workout attire), journaling, working out, then tea/coffee, read and relax. My night-time routine is washing my face/showering, 11 o'clock news then Stephen Colbert. I'm also working on getting in the habit of asking myself a question I'd like to have figured out the next day by writing it down right before bed. Then while you sleep your subconscious works on figuring it out etc. haha (something I heard from Ben Harding an inspirational blogger). I think if anything it definitely helps! I feel like if I'm trying to find a solution to something throughout the day, I'll have the answer (crossed fingers!) after a good night's rest lol.

My answers are loooong haha, but thanks for the questions!!

Best,
Yas :)

@JoannaGiunta I love these questions!

Self Care: Yoga, going on long runs, eating healthy foods, and having a positive mind set

Beauty inspiration: Paulina Porizkova. I remember there was one night that a documentary of her was on TV, and after I finished watching it her story really inspired me. Besides my passion for fashion and modeling, she is a reason I started to have interest and get involved in the modeling industry. Besides her inspiration, she is beautiful and ageless!

Dedicated. I grew up playing sports and I am former college athlete so staying dedicated and committed to success is extremely important!

I cannot leave the house without a positive mindset.

Strangest Beauty Hack: I recently started switching some of my products to vegan and with a different approach "Beauty Within." One of the products is this vegan formula that contains a botanical blend with Sea Buckthorn Extract and Hyaluronic Acid. It helps keep my hair, skin, and nails looking healthy and the flavor comes from an acai plant which is refreshing!

Morning Ritual: After I drink my coffee, I try to start my day with a workout. It gives me energy and allows me to feel good for the day.

Nighttime Ritual: Skin care routine before bed!

:) Here are my highlights:

I practice self-care with enough sleep (I'm totally a sleeping princess), minimizing stress, and every day exercising. I love cooking delicious food as well.

My number one beauty inspiration is Jeffree Star, incredible personality, and make-up nowadays is a thing. And of course I love Rihanna.

I would describe myself in one word as...ambitious.

I cannot leave the house without headphones and sunscreen.

My strangest beauty hack is to put translucent powder on lipstick to make it waterproof, or burn eyeliner pencil with a lighter to make it extra dark.

The best morning ritual is my Japanese ritual to drink glasses of water on empty stomach, it's a miracle! Nighttime ritual, essential oils.

Thank you!

Hi! Thought I'd answer these since I've enjoyed reading everyone else's!

What are some ways you practice self-care? Yoga, dancing and a great meal! not a good meal but GREAT this is important, just ask Chrissy Teigen she'll tell you.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration? Jurnee Smollett, my mom has told me all my life growing up I look like her and in truth Jurnee was the first young actress I ever saw on t.v. that looked like me. She has this gorgeous natural beauty about her, a classic beauty that shines from the inside that radiates out.

How would you describe yourself in one word? Gemini

What is one item you cannot leave the house without? My Fenty pro kiss'r luscious lip balm.

What is your strangest beauty hack? Soak your feet in beer and warm water for soft and healthy feet... I know it's weird but it works for me.

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?
Morning: I start by brushing my teeth next I put on my running shoes get my headphones and hit my treadmill for about an hour. once I'm done with that I do some floor work-outs and yoga, I feed my dogs Bob Barker and Penny Lane and make my way to the shower to wash my body. I love Neutrogena Face wash and moisturizer it's been working great for my since I was a teen. Okay, this is the big one.. once I'm out the shower I debate to myself for about 10 minutes if I'm going to braid my hair or go with a wash and go, lol it's a big decision! next I make breakfast and my day is a go!

Nighttime: I wash my face with my favorite face wash and do a beauty mask every other night. Like most ladies I'm a sucker for rom-coms so the next thing I'll do is look for something funny to watch or read a cheaper in the current book I'm diving in to, this month its More Than Enough by Elaine Welteroth. Last but not least I try my best to make sure I drink a glass of water before nights out.

This was fun, I'm looking forward to the next one!

What are some ways you practice self-care? Telling people “no.” It is the hardest lesson to learn, but you have to know when you can no longer give energy you don’t have.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration? My granny. She is 80 and still gets old men hitting on her!!! She just is who she is. Her beauty radiates from within; that’s the kind of beauty I long to have.

How would you describe yourself in one word? Limitless

What is one item you cannot leave the house without? Sunglasses, if I do it’s a BAD day.

What is your strangest beauty hack? If I’m shooting, I’ll wipe off the outer line of my lip stain, but keep the rest on under the new lip stain. It keeps from rubbing your lips raw.

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual? Morning ritual: hit snooze too many times and then rush to get ready. Make a proper espresso drink so I’m not wasting money or creating more waste of disposable cups. Night time, I walk into the bathroom to wash my face and my German Shepard jumps on the bed in my spot. I will usually have had or will be having a cup of tea. I’ll lay down with a book and then once I get tired go to sleep.

Hi @JoannaGiunta ! I just joined the club a few days ago... still figuring things out.. and thank you so much for this amazing platform ;-)

I love these fun questions ! 🙌
My self care :
I drink plenty of water, exercise daily, eat right, sleep 8 hours every night and stay true to myself. I also learned the importance to remove stress from my life by focusing on the positive in every situation and work on my breathing.

No 1 beauty inspiration:
Besides my beautiful mother, I would have to say it is Christie Brinkley. She is an ageless beauty and an excellent role model.

How would I describe myself in one word:
Loving ❤️

One item I cannot leave the house without:
My keys ... LOL.. ;-)

My strangest beauty hack :
Rolling my hair into a bun to get the frizz out.

My morning ritual:
I’m a morning person, so as soon as my eyes open I am wide-awake, usually at 5:30-6:00. I immediately give thanks for this life and ask a blessing for everyone on this planet. I kiss my kitten and my great dane rolls over for a belly rub. This literally happens every morning. Then I brush my teeth for 2 minutes and splash water on my face. While the coffee brews I prepare the animal’s breakfast. By then my man is also awake so we make the bed together and enjoy our coffee together with a cut papaya while we gaze out over the ocean and talk about life (which is a big topic these days!!) After 20 minutes I open a young coconut, make poached eggs and toast with coconut oil as our spread. After breakfast I take a shower and start my day.

My nighttime ritual:
In Bali my day normally winds down around 4-4:30 pm when all my pets come from all directions for their afternoon hike. For many years this hike always included my 14 year old monkey, who sadly passed away in his sleep a few months ago. Today, I hike in the hills with 2 dogs and a cat, as well as my boyfriend or anyone else that wants to join me. There is nothing like sitting up high on a hill overlooking the Bali Sea with a pack of fur babies all around, just enjoying nature. Even THEY watch the sunset and appreciate the beauty of nature. After we return home I feed them, water the yard, feed the fish and turtles, and take a shower. By then the sun is setting. I usually do not eat dinner, unless is it grilled fish…and I like to eat a cut apple and drink tea while watching a movie or the news. Bedtime is around 9:30. I brush my teeth, splash water on my face, apply vitamin C oil, kiss my man and our fur babies. Give a prayer of gratitude. Lights out.

Hi! Great questions.

I have struggled with what self care means for me, and sometimes taking a long hot shower is what I do. Working out, eating healthy and full meals, and making at home as fun as possible are also ways I take care of myself.

I hardly ever leave my place without a cup of water, tea, or coffee. I’m constantly drinking those three things.

Recently, I started brushing my eyebrows and I absolutely love the way I can transform my look with just a brush here and there.

Hello Ladies, I just joined the club and am still learning how to navigate through this technology and just came across this fun and intriguing questionnaire and was excited to share my answers with you:

  1. I take care of myself by taking advantage of being an empty nester - working out for 2-3hrs/day - including at least 1 hour of stretching before, after and between sets, hot yoga for about 1,5-2hrs. I LOVE feeling stronger, more flexible and expansive in my own body every day and I can never have enough of it! I also religiously use hard-foam roller as soon as I wake up in the morning and the last thing I do before going to bed. I also make sure to take a nap/read a book for at least 1hr in the sun every day, as that's my proven best and totally free anti-depressant. That's why I get up at 3:45am, to finish early in the morning my workouts and everything else I would be doing during the day/sun time; that way I can catch up with my sleep when it's warm and refresh for the rest of the day. I eat clean and healthy diet, as well.

  2. My #1 beauty (and fitness) inspiration is Jane Fonda - her beauty is electric, beaming from the inside - her wit and humor, her whole being - generating confidence, her physical shape and strength. I still use her leg/butt exercises I found in my mom's magazine, back in late 80's - they still work, especially with resistance bands! She's so full of life and energy - it's amazing!

  3. Describe myself in one word - Disciplined!

  4. I can't leave my home without my water bottle.

  5. My strangest beauty heck - I use coconut oil as my "sunscreen", always envisioning that the healing properties of the sun are helping my skin deeper absorb the healing properties of the coconut oil. I also put coconut oil all the way from my face to my hips - obliques, belly, back, upper arms - every morning before I work out - especially before yoga - to prevent (sometimes) dry skin from micro-tearing while I'm stretching. It also makes stretching more comfortable.

  6. My morning ritual: get up at 3:45 - 4:00am, roll on the foam-roller to reset my body from sleeping in the same position all night, make celery juice and add chia seeds in it - for extra flush ;), get ready for workout while I'm "drinking" my celery juice w/a spoon and listening or watching on my phone some of the transformational programs I've been taking since June - making the best of my quarantine time - that's how I ended up here, too ;-) Between 5am and 9am I'm working out (stretching, cardio, weights, yoga) while catching up w/the world through GMA and local news, then catch up with daily tasks, so I can grab my sun time between 10am and 12pm, before the sun gets too strong. I read/nap/refresh, then going back to my studies, homework and practices.

My evening routine: I like to shower by 6pm, so I can have an early dinner, since I like to go to bed by 8:30pm (currently impossible with all or my commitments to transform my life, while the world is transforming, as well). Before I shower - I always dry-brush my whole body to keep my lymphatic system up-to speed and also - it helps a lot with smoothening the cellulite and skin. No matter how late I go to bed - I make sure I write my gratitude journal and roll again on my hard-foam roller, to reset my body from beating it up during the day. I pray, set up the yoga-music timer and fade out.

PS. I don't have IG or other active social media at this time

  • I might be able to bribe my daughter to help me set it up ;-)

PPS. I'm throwing in a few photos of me to share with you how my heartbreak and suicidal ideation only 10 months ago brought me to my best physical, mental, emotional and a spiritual shape of my life! I've been working out until my physical pain overpowers my emotional pain - as a result I ended up with a healthier body, mind and spirit than ever, at age 50!

Hello! I am excited to be on this journey with everyone!

Here are my answers to these questions.

  1. I practice self care by regularly getting self care treatments. I love to get massages (I get one monthly). I also love to receive facials and I do yoga every single day. On top of all of this I really enjoy journaling when I'm going through a tough time. I also practice gratitude daily.

  2. I would say my number one beauty inspiration is dita von teese or sandra bullock. I've always loved Sandra Bullock since I was little girl and I've always looked up to her, and I think Dita has great beauty tips to offer. I have some of her books and always enjoyed reading them

  3. How would I describe myself in one word? I would say determined

  4. For this one probably the one thing I cannot leave the house without is my phone. I have a son and need to make sure I always have my phone in case of emergency

  5. Strangest beauty hack? I try to keep my skin very healthy through diet and skin care regimens, so that way I do not have to wear a ton of makeup. I also use eyelash serums to keep my eyelashes nice and healthy so I do not have to use fake eyelashes or put anything on my eyelashes that will harm them.

  6. My morning ritual consists of : usually taking care of my son, but when it comes to self care I always rinse in the shower, do yoga, and write three things I am grateful for in my journal.

My nighttime ritual is wash my face and moisturize. And use under eye cream. And usually lounge in bed with my husband and watch a movie while we have some alone time

Hope this helped you guys get to know me a little bit better. And forward to hearing from you!

Hello loves!
I am excited to be here!!!

What are some ways you practice self-care?

During the pandemic I’ve been taking care of myself by being less readily available. I tend to be the friend who is always ready to help but of late I have gotten more comfortable saying no.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?

I’d say I look to the Queens of our past more than anything. It was more about presence back in the day and though they were portrayed as beautiful they speak about how Queens ruled and carried themselves

How would you describe yourself in one word?
Empowerment or Energy

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?
My cellular device 🤣

What is your strangest beauty hack?

🤔 I’d have to say Ashwagandha teas because they level the emotions allowing that light to shine unhindered

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?

In the am I lay in bed and listen to something spiritual or educational before I grab my phone to set the tone for day. Then I look over my plans for the day and journal a little to establish My flow. Then it’s water and a puff to start a and some kinda movement- strength wise or dance

At night
After I shower I moisturize and journal. It helps me collect sift through my thoughts and emotions and prep for the next day

Hi Joanna!

This is my first post- yay! I’m so excited to be here. Thanks for having me!

What are some ways you practice self-care?
-I’m currently learning about mindfulness. It’s not something people automatically think about when it comes to self-care, but I’m learning that it’s a vital part of being mentally and physically healthy. Not being present mentally can lead to depression, anxiety, and physical health issues! I struggle every day with distractions, and so I’m learning techniques that will help me remain present in the moment.

Who is your number one beauty inspiration?
-Hunter McGrady ❤️

How would you describe yourself in one word?
-Fierce

What is one item you cannot leave the house without?
-My phone! I wish it was a more interesting answer than that- but that’s the truth!

What is your strangest beauty hack?
-Honestly, Kylie lipstick. I’m a nurse practitioner and I sometimes have to work 24 hour shifts in my hospital. My lipstick lasts ALL DAY! Even after I eat and drink.

What is your morning ritual? What about nighttime ritual?
-In the morning, I immediately drink a big glass of water when I get up. I pray, then I check my to-do list before I get out of bed. I do my skincare/brush my teeth, apply my makeup, and do my hair. Then I get dressed and eat breakfast before I wake my kids up!
-At night, after I put my kids to bed, I shower and get into my pajamas. I pray, brush my teeth/do my skincare, and then I either get into bed or I journal or read, depending on how late it is!
