If you’re trying figure out how to take off that four week old gel manicure, you’re not alone. The sight of our nails right now is frightening and what better way to de-compress and treat yourself than with an at home manicure. Ever wonder what the perfect SI Swimsuit manicure is? Our models always have a simple, yet chic, nude manicure for every shoot. We're going to tell you our favorite products so you can do it at home and pretend you're getting ready for an SI Swimsuit shoot in a warm, tropical location!
I stumbled upon Olive & June during my daily WFH browsing (research for this article) hour because they're offering daily manicure classes on their Instagram. To go along with their classes, they created the perfect kit that comes with all the essentials. Their “Studio Box” comes with: nail polish remover, a clean-up brush, nail clipper, nail file, buffer, your choice of nail polish, top coat, cuticle serum and their famous “The Poppy” universal polish bottle handle (more on this item below). This kit will turn you from a rookie to a pro in no time. It even has a phone ledge to document your work, so you can become the influencer you've always wanted to be (even if only your Mom and co-workers see it...Hi, Mom!).
The perfect nude is essential and it will vary on personal preference, skin tone, etc. Each SI Swimsuit model comes to set with their personal favorite. So, like them, find the one that works for you! My personal go-to is Nostalgia by Jin Soon. I wear it for every wedding, bridal shower...you get the gist. But, for all your needs, I recommend any nude by Essie. Essie has the best website when it comes to selecting a polish. They model each color on different skin tones so you can see what the polish will look like before you purchase. While we wait for Fenty Beauty to release what is sure to be the most perfect collection of nail polish to ever exist (one can dream), these will hold you over and give you that SI Swimsuit model mani in no time!
The Ultimate Accessory:
"The Poppy" by Olive and June comes with their “Studio Box”. However, if you have most of the tools already, I recommend you lay out the $16 for this one item. It is truly life changing. When I painted my nails before owning this, my hands would look like a two year olds finger painting. Now I am a manicurist (okay, not really but they look MUCH better). It fits onto any nail polish top, gives you the perfect grip and allows you to have more control for that professional at home SI Swimsuit manicure.
