Gigi Hadid is no newbie in the land of VOGUE covers. With a now-whopping 12 franchise covers, the star was only missing one of the notorious "big four" until the August 2016 cover of American VOGUE landed today.
Fronting the Olympic-themed issue with gold-medal decathlete Ashton Eaton, Gigi models the seasons hottest looks as she tries out some of the game's hardest events. Luckily Ashton was there to give the blonde beauty a few pointers, but noted that "she was a born natural". The two bonded during the action-packed shoot over a mutual love for healthy meals and their undeniable competitive spirits.
"I mean, I trained like a professional athlete," Gigi told the magazine of her days playing competitive volleyball in high school. "...that's why I think I get along so well with athletes...I'm just a lot more intense than you assume. I'm very competitive."
Once news of her career-goal cover hit social media, Gigi took to Instagram to share the news of her dream come true.
"Shooting my first American @voguemagazine cover, in my hometown, was so surreal," she said in the caption. "And to be able to share it with Olympic Gold Medalist and my new friend #AshtonEaton is such an honor. I couldn't think of a cover I'd rather be on than the one celebrating athletes.
"Being an athlete has brought so much pride and joy to my life and has instilled the work ethic that still drives me every day."
Be sure to check out the full cover story when the August issue of VOGUE hits newsstands on July 26th.
