The Best Workout Gear You Can Fit In Your Suitcase

Need some motivation to work out on vacation? We’ve got you covered.

If you’re like me, you plan all of your trips around the best restaurants, bars and eats a city has to offer. You’re not going to Paris to say “no” to all the wine, bread and cheese for which it is famous. And if you're like me, you pack a pair of workout clothes for every single trip you go on and these never see the outside of your suitcase. Give me a spin class or a Rumble boxing class and I am always down to work out. Finding motivation while halfway around the world can be challenging and I bow down to those people who do it regularly. So, let’s give you all the tools you need to succeed, and if you don’t you're only human. Go eat that baguette, sip that cocktail, enjoy your vacation -- and, if you’re up to it, squeeze in a workout or two!

Sneakers: When in doubt, just run! There is no better way to see the place you’ve traveled to than by foot. These sneakers by APL are practical, will match with any outfit and can be used for a long day of sightseeing if you don’t actually use them for a run.

Sliders: These are the perfect travel workout accessory because they take up so little space. You can do mountain climbers, lunges and other body-weight exercises all without leaving the privacy of your room. Throw these sliders by Tone It Up in your carry-on and get in that daily sweat sesh.

Online Workout Videos: I am not an expert in this area, but lucky for us Margot Zamet has written this article about the best At-Home Workouts you can do anywhere. Whether in a hotel room in Los Angeles or an AirBnB in Paris, these mobile workouts from some of our favorites like Melissa Wood and Rumble make getting motivated for a workout so much easier.

Resistance Bands: I travel with a bag of these on every single photo shoot. Confession: I have used them just once. My goal for the 2021 issue shoot season is to use these every day of every shoot and start my mornings with a mini workout. Rather than lugging weights with you or trekking to a hotel gym, these allow you the resistance and workout of weights in the comfort of your hotel room.

Collapsible Foam Rollers: I live for the pain of foam-rolling. I started during my college swim team’s strength training and never looked back and neither will you. A foam roller helps improve blood circulation and can lessen inflammation especially after a long haul flight. Normally, these are quite large and a pain to transport, but a company called Morph has come up with a travel-friendly solution. May I introduce you to the collapsible foam roller?
