Brooks Nader is trying out all sorts of beauty treatments while taking fans behind the scenes to witness the process and results. The soon-to-be five-time SI Swimsuit model visited Dr. Arash Akhavan at the Dermatology and Laser Group in midtown Manhattan for her first treatment: JUVÉDERM. The 27-year-old attended the appointment with her sister, Grace Ann.

“We’re gonna drain. We’re gonna sculpt. We’re gonna lift,” Nader began the “No Filter” video series with SI Swimsuit. “Should we start a band? I’m gonna let you know what’s worth it [and] what’s not. I’m going to be trying all of them out. Ready for my JUVÉDERM!”

What is JUVÉDERM?

According to Dr. Akhavan, JUVÉDERM is the most popular brand of hyaluronic acid-based filler. The dermatologist, who specializes in non-invasive and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures and skin cancer prevention and treatment, has been featured in Cosmopolitan and Allure multiple times.

JUVÉDERM cosmetic treatments are meant to restore and refill naturally occurring hyaluronic acid into locations where it has been depleted.

“Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar. It’s found in our body,” Akhavan explained. “It loves water, so it sucks water into itself and hydrates from within. [By injecting] we get that plumping, hydration and rejuvenation from inside.”

JUVÉDERM differs from traditional Botox treatments in that it is preventative and targets wrinkles that result with aging. Botox, on the other hand, addresses lines that form due to repetitive muscle movements.

Brooks tries it

“I’m so excited to be getting JUVÉDERM today. I was thinking of getting it in my chin,” Nader told Dr. Akhavan at the start of her appointment.

“I love that idea for you,” he responded. “With JUVÉDERM and all injectables, I don’t like to do too much. I want to keep everything as natural as possible—just a little touch to enhance the profile. It definitely gives you that more snatched look.”

Dr. Akhavan injected one syringe of treatment to the middle of the model’s chin.

Nader didn’t even flinch during the JUVÉDERM—or as she calls it “liquid gold”—insertion.

The results

Dr. Akhavan said the filler results show up within two weeks and can last for more than a year. The JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC injectable gel is designed specifically for the chin. Adding volume to the chin area creates shape and definition and improves the front and side profile.

“I think that was so effortless,” Grace Ann chimed in.

For JUVÉDERM chin augmentation, the most common side effects are temporary reactions at the treatment site including tenderness, firmness, swelling, pain, bumps, redness, itching and discoloration. Most side effects are mild and self-resolve in less than a month.

“I love it. Honestly incredible,” Nader added. “I’m obsessed with my chin.”
