Emily DiDonato Recreates Iconic Vintage Outfits

Bringing back the best of 90's style.

Emily DiDonato has become a go-to personality for everything from beauty to fitness, thanks to her insightful YouTube channel and Instagram account. Not surprisingly, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model is also a queen when it comes to impeccable style. But like many of us during the pandemic, the face of Maybelline was getting a little bored with her more casual attire (that was still on point). So she decided to start a self-imposed challenge of recreating vintage outfits.

"I've been feeling so uninspired to get dressed lately, so I decided to have a little fun and recreate an outfit I found on Pinterest from the '90s," DiDonato wrote back in November. "It felt amazing to get out of my sweats. So I guess that means it's time to consistently bring jeans back into my life." She added that it was the first time using Pinterest.

The result of her fashion quest has been nothing short of awesome. Check out some of the model's looks. (Bonus: DiDonato has tagged all the brands she's been wearing to help followers recreate the looks, too).

Beige Winter Ensemble

The first homage made to the '90s was an outfit worn by model Yasmeen Ghauri in 1993 on the Les Copains runway (who also appeared in the Swimsuit Issue in 1995 and 1997). It includes an oversized white turtleneck, long overcoat, slouchy pants, sneakers and cat-eye sunglasses for an elegant yet casual vibe.

Simple Black and Tan Outfit

On Day 2, DiDonato turned to supermodel Linda Evangelista's street style for inspiration. "I love this outfit because it's simple, chic, and I knew I had items in my closet that could work," she wrote. It was pulled together using a black Wolford bodysuit, black jeans by Pretty Little Thing, a tan blazer from The Frankie Shop, black booties from Zara, and a black Givenchy statement bag.

Cream Uniform

Similar to the Ghauri look, this Day 3 cream recreation was inspired by an outfit that Christy Turlington rocked on the street. It features an oversized tan suit jacket and pants with a crisp white tank top and sneakers. DiDonato made it using The Frankie Shop suit, a tank from 7 For All Mankind, shoes from Common, and a belt by Uniqlo.

Royal Attire

After binge-watching Season 4 of "The Crown," DiDonato opted to channel Princess Diana. She recreated a look that featured a green jacket and tucked (TUCKED IN?) white turtleneck. To make it more modern, DiDonato swapped in sneakers for the royal's flats and opted for light washed jeans instead of cream slacks. "I made a few tweaks to make it more my style and love the way it turned out," she wrote.

Retro Regalia

After followers asked her to step outside the box more, DiDonato decided to turn to Tyra Banks's time on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." The result was acid-washed denim with a cropped turtleneck, belt with an oversized buckle, and baggy flannel. "Crop tops and a flannel are honestly as far as I can go today," she joked.
