JANTHEE Berlin Launches Desert-Inspired Collection

The Spring/Summer 2022 collection will have you booking your next beach getaway.

JANTHEE Berlin founder and designer Linda Hausser knows how to balance glamour with wearability. Her latest collection features six new bikini sets and six new one-piece styles, many of which can be worn in multiple manners. I caught up with Hausser to discuss the inspiration behind the brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 Sahara Extravaganza collection and how she maintains both quality and an ethos of sustainable practices at her brand.

What was your design inspiration behind the collection?

We wanted to reflect in this collection the delicacy of a desert adventure, so we chose exquisite earthy and crystal colors. We used light amethyst-toned Lilac, golden-nut Pistachio and a glistening dark-chocolate complexion of Mocha to achieve this. In addition the poppy sky-blue Chlorine, the festive emerald green Le Vert and the lotus-covered royal Ameni print are meant to state the playfulness and vibrance of a world traveler. All of the sets in the collection display the unique and variable design of JANTHEE Berlin at our core.

What key pieces should shoppers keep an eye out for?

For sun lovers we designed our iconic and stylish Lyn Bottom and Inca Top that give "barely-there" tan lines and are suitable for all body types. The collection also introduces a new style that is completely adjustable -- therefore, it can be a long-lasting forever piece in any wardrobe. We've also brought back our best-selling Olympia Top and Amy Bottom in new colors. Both styles are easily adjustable and versatile giving the wearer creative freedom to style their bikinis however they deem fit.

I live for a good swimwear campaign and am always inspired to see how a designer showcases their collection. What was it about the exotic desert that spoke to you?

We shot the campaign at a desert location an hour from Dubai. I spent four months this year in the UAE and was fascinated by the culture and the nature that Dubai and its surroundings have to offer. It became very clear to me while planning the shoot that the lush palms and golden dunes needed to be reflected in the campaign. The SS22 collection offers a candid look into a luxurious vacation among the exotic scenery of an oasis.

How does this collection tie in to your personal story as a world traveler?

As I traveled the world from a young age, I realized quickly how beautifully different all women are from each other, not just their bodies but also in how they style their swimwear. My goal was to create a broad selection of bikinis that everyone can wear and everyone can see themselves wearing. This collection offers pieces that are completely adjustable; some pieces can be worn up to eight different ways. It's always been important to our brand ethos to create styles that suit every body type because nothing can boost someone's confidence like a well-fitting bikini.

Can you speak on any sustainability efforts you take in your design process and for this collection?

Sustainability is something we've always been conscious of at JANTHEE Berlin, which is one of the main reasons we focus on creating quality pieces that are made to last for several seasons and that can be worn in many different ways. Nevertheless our brand has committed itself to collaborating with only certified EU-suppliers which ensures fair working conditions along our supply chain. As we aim to protect our environment, all JANTHEE Berlin prints are developed with a modern and eco-friendly printing method that ensures none of the dyes enter into the water system.
