Kate Bock Wants a Dreamy Gatsby-Themed Wedding
Kate Bock got the best birthday present ever! The SI Swimsuit 2020 cover model was dining out in a private outdoor igloo in New York City on January 30 (also her birthday!) with her boyfriend Kevin Love when he proposed with a stunning diamond ring. And now we were able to find out some of the dreamy details the duo has in mind for their big day.
"I feel really lucky that [Kevin and I] have very similar aesthetics," Bock tells SI Swimsuit. "We want an old-school Great Gatsby meets Frank Sinatra meets Ralph Lauren sort of vibe. We already have a shared album and mood boards that both of us add to as we go. We don't know all the details, but we have some inspo."
As far as where and when the nuptials will occur, the pair wants to keep things close to their home in New York. "Both of us travel so much, are from different countries and have people all over the place. So, the wedding will probably be in the New York state area," says Bock. "And because of basketball, it will likely happen in the summer when it's offseason for Kevin."
One thing that's a must at the wedding is themed cocktails. Bock has already started working on a concoction with Kevin in mind, using Pompette, a premium line of hard sparkling waters.
"Kevin loves blood orange," says Bock, who is a fan of the line thanks to it being gluten-free, low calorie, low sugar and all-natural. "So I used Pompette Clementine Berry, gin, fresh blood orange juice, ginger ale and a slice of blood orange. I have to figure out a title still."
While no details have been solidified, Kate is just enjoying the planning process with her new fiance. "We're now decorating a house together and I just know we are really on the same page when it comes to aesthetics,” she says. So it's fun to plan for the wedding because we get excited about each other's ideas. It's just fun to create your dream party together."
Bock and Love have even started discussing their dream honeymoon, using SI Swimsuit for some inspiration. "Our dream was to go on safari in Africa," she said. "I talked to [SI Swimsuit editor in chief] MJ a lot about their trip to Kenya, which was the most magical trip ever. So we might have to get some tips from Sports Illustrated on that. But we're both really dreaming of going to Africa and seeing animals."
For now, the newly-engaged couple is still reveling in the proposal night where a photographer was on hand to catch the sweet moment.
"Well, this was the best birthday surprise I could have ever imagined," wrote Bock, captioning a series of black-and-white photos from the big moment. "I couldn't be happier to have been asked to be a Love by my love. Heart bursting all day & night."
The NBA star, 32, echoed the sentiment posting a similar photo with the caption, "Souls tend to go back to who feels like home. My Fiancé. The Joy of My Life."
Many of Bock's fellow SI Swimsuit models congratulated her in the comments section. "Omg, congrats, beautiful," wrote fellow SI cover model Olivia Culpo. Haley Kalil wrote, "I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! Congratulations!!!" Emily DiDonato, Brooks Nader and more also sent their congratulatory messages.
Love, who has been sitting out most of the season due to a calf injury, also got some famous shoutouts from former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates LeBron James and Tristan Thompson. "Congrats, my brother!!!" wrote James on Instagram.
Of course, the couple's Instagram-famous dog Vestry also chimed in on the big news. "CONGRATULATIONS MOM & DAD," read a caption of the adorable pup on his account.
Bock, who has made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2013, first met the Cavaliers player in 2016 after a photo shoot with the same photographer. The pair have been together ever since and recently showed off their Tribeca apartment in Architectural Digest.
