Time and time again, Kate Bock has ventured beyond the modeling industry to pursue other passions. The SI Swimsuit 2020 cover model has designed her own jewelry line called CATTURA, collaborated with the nail company 10 Over 10 and serves as Chief Brand Officer of Pompette Hard Sparkling Water. Now Bock has released a new swimwear capsule collection with bond-eye Australia.

The Kate Bock x bond-eye collection features five styles and two exclusive colorways made from the brand's original late 80s tubular crinkle fabric. Bock’s love of classic and timeless lines is revealed through the five signature shapes, including the Maxam, the Twist Strap Oscar, the Twist Strap Samira Set, the Brad Set and the Scout Set. In addition, each piece in the collection comes in one size designed to fit a U.S. 0 through to U.S. 12.

As part of this launch, we chatted with Bock about the collection and how being an SI Swimsuit model helped inform the design. Here's what she had to say.

What was the inspiration behind the collection?

“I was inspired by all of the travel I've been so lucky to do throughout my life and career. The neutral earth tones reflect the destinations I’ve seen around the world and are universally flattering. I wanted to make these swimsuits a staple in everyone’s swimsuit collection, so I kept the designs classic with a subtle twist. They work everywhere from the pool to a tropical getaway.”

How is it different from other swimsuits on the market?

“The thoughtful design and clean lines set these pieces apart. The luxe texture of the tubular crinkle fabric combined with a timeless cut makes these pieces ultra-flattering and compliments your natural shape. It’s all about the fit!”

Did your time as an SI Swimsuit model help with the design process?

“I think I’ve spent more time in a swimsuit than the average person thanks to my time with SI Swimsuit! It has definitely given me a unique perspective on what makes a swimsuit work. Spending long shoot days in various swimsuits served as great background “research” for the collection. I made sure to draw on my own experience when designing the fit, lines and tones to make sure I was creating something stylish yet flattering for wearing all day."

Why is inclusive sizing and sustainability so important to you?

“We put so much thought into the design of these pieces, and size inclusivity and sustainability were top of mind. The collection features timeless styles, clean lines, and innovative four-way stretch material that are universally flattering — they can be enjoyed by a variety of beach-goers, regardless of body shape or size. I personally believe in living a sustainable and clean lifestyle. I like to shop and support sustainable brands, and bond-eye is the perfect example of a brand that is committed, from practices like hand dying to using solar-powered energy. It’s been such a pleasure and labor of love working on this collection. I can’t wait to get into everyone’s hands and see them feeling good in the suits.”

The limited-edition capsule collection is available for purchase through leading global retailers and bond-eye.com.
