Kate Upton and Justin Verlander hit the 2023 FN Achievement Awards ceremony in New York City on Nov. 29, and the power couple yet again proved what sharp dressers they are individually.

The three-time SI Swimsuit Issue cover model donned a stunning black Valentino gown for the occasion, which featured a backless silhouette and a voluminous skirt. Perhaps the best part of the designer dress? It had pockets! Upton wore her shoulder length blonde locks in a subtle wave, while her flawless makeup featured flirty lashes and a light pink lip. Her Houston Astros pitcher husband opted for a classic tuxedo and black bow tie combo.

The annual celebration, hosted by Footwear News, honors the hottest designers and styles of the year and is often jokingly referred to as the “Shoe Oscars.” Upton was on hand to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sam and Libby Edelman, cofounders of the Sam & Libby lifestyle brand. Ten years ago, the Michigan-born model starred in a Sam Edelman ad campaign, and has collaborated with the New York-based brand several times since.

And while footwear was obviously the focus last night, Upton always has great style from head to toe. At the event, the 31-year-old mom of one told Women’s Wear Daily that she enjoys sporty fashion—which makes sense, as she wears it often to support her MLB star partner.

“It’s a play on athleisure, from shopping for specific items to finding your personal style within the team’s colors,” Upton told the outlet of her laid-back sense of fashion. “I always try to be comfortable, effortless and put together.”
