LaQuan Smith’s Runway Was Just What New York Needed

The designer showcased his newest collection from the top of the Empire State Building.

Last night, in one of the most highly anticipated events of New York Fashion Week, designer LaQuan Smith presented his Spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection — from the top of the Empire State Building. The models, the collection and the skyline (and, oh, the French poodles) made for a magical New York moment.

Smith’s collection was sexy, celebratory (of both female form and the return of nightlife), and was balanced out with the perfect amount of edginess. There were feathers, fishnet tights, bathrobe-esque mini dresses and, of course, renditions of his signature catsuit. The best part? Feeding our impatient souls, the collection is see now, buy now.

SI Swimsuit models Marquita Pring, Barbara Palvin, Winnie Harlow and 2021 cover girl, Leyna Bloom were among the fashion industry's heavy-hitters walking the runway. After the show, Bloom attended the Saks Fifth Avenue event at L’Avenue where she rocked her runway glam of a bold bedazzled black cat-eye and voluminous high pony.

Check out some of the stand-out pieces from the show:
