Japanese tennis professional Naomi Osaka hasn’t played in a competitive tennis match since September 2022. The 26-year-old has been on a year-long hiatus leading up to and following the birth of her daughter in July. The former world No. 1 and four-time Grand Slam champion is set to return to professional play in January of 2024, heading to Melbourne for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the professional season.

But, in the meantime, the athlete is continuing to enjoy her time off from professional play. Osaka has taken to the tropics for a vacation under the palms, making the most of the professional tennis off-season. The pro celebrated her Oct. 16 birthday in the undisclosed paradise, sharing a post to her Instagram on Sunday, keying followers into her impending 26th birthday.

Osaka wore a deep pink-and-orange patterned mesh midi with a fabulous matching scarf and oversized gold earrings. The athlete forwent shoes for the occasion, posing beneath the palms barefoot—an appropriate move for her coastal vacation.

“big libra vibes ♎️🌴🤎✨,” she captioned the series of stunning photos.

“Bday season!! Come through Libra sis! 😍,” one follower gushed in the comment section.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL 🥹,” another sweetly added.

We sincerely hope the 2021 SI Swimsuit Issue cover star enjoys her well-deserved birthday celebration in paradise. In the meantime, we are patiently awaiting her highly-anticipated return to the court at the start of next year. We’ll be rooting for her!
