Serena Williams Puts a Stunning Lacy Magenta Spin on the Sheer Dress Trend

The CFDA Fashion Icon Award winner is just that: a total fashionista.

As this year’s CFDA Fashion Icon Award winner, it is no surprise that Serena Williams knows how to dress. In fact, we knew this far before she became the first professional athlete to secure the prestigious honor, and she just keeps on proving it each time she steps out for another red carpet event.

An evening event for Vanity Fair and the Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet gave the icon her most recent opportunity to dress up and flaunt her good style. For the occasion, the former tennis pro hopped on the sheer dress trend, making a statement in a vibrant magenta lace midi. The figure-accentuating gown featured a high-neck fit and long sleeves.

Williams shared an Instagram carousel from the evening, in which she showed off all the angles of her incredible dress, which she paired with a bright yellow wool coat and silver metallic platform heels.

“An evening with @vanityfair x @audemarspiguet,” she captioned the handful of photos. The 42-year-old sported a full face of glam, including her characteristic lashes, and wore her light brown hair down in natural curls.

“Love the hair, love the purple. Slayin’ 💜,” one follower gushed.

“Looking lovely! 🙌🙌🔥🔥," another added.

“Purple on you 🤤,” a fan said.

Again, Williams doesn’t have to prove her fashion sense to anyone—we all already know what she’s capable of. But we still enjoy having an opportunity to admire her style when she puts it on display.
