How to Come Out of Quarantine with Great Brows

Follow these grooming tips from the Eyebrow Doctor.

Let those stray hairs grow wild! Since essentially no one should be entering the six-foot radius around you, they definitely won't be able to see a few awry eyebrow hairs. Just think of the shaping you could accomplish at your first waxing appointment. If you aren't into letting them grow completely unhinged, brow specialist Piret Aava, aka The Eyebrow Doctor, is here to help.

Aava is widely known for her microblading technique and perfect brow shaping that result in glamorous but natural-looking brows. She is a go-to eyebrow specialist of many celebrities including Serena Williams, Veronica Webb and Malin Akerman. Aava mainly jumps between her New York and Miami studios (prior to quarantine). She has been staying busy with virtual consultations and is here to share some of those grooming tips she has been offering her clients.

Outline Your Brow

You’ll want to map out your plan of attack, so drop the tweezer for this first step. Says Aava: “Start by using an eyebrow pencil to fill and shape along the natural arch of your brows, then simply tweeze hairs that do not fall inside the lines.”

To Pluck or Not to Pluck?

It’s quite common to be on the fence about removing a particular hair. Says Aava: “Try covering it with a concealer. This way you can see what your brow will look like without it.” Remember to pluck one by one and assess what the brow looks like after each pull.

How to Trim

If you want to trim your eyebrows because they are growing down or getting too heavy, then do so but proceed with caution. Says Aava: “Use an eyebrow brush to brush hairs upward. It’s best to use a dull scissor and carefully trim hairs individually. But avoid going near the arch of your brow because you don't want to mess that up.”

Need Some Growth Help?

Aava suggests Revitabrow, a serum that you apply once or twice daily to extend the growth period of the hair follicle. Says Aava: “The average growth period of hair is five to seven weeks. After that the hair falls out. If you can extend that growth period, you will have fuller brows.”
