This Amazing Vacation Package Includes Lunch in Antarctica

Think champagne chilled in 10,000-year-old glacial ice.

Antarctica is one of those seemingly mystical places on the top of every adventurer's bucket list. No wonder SI Swimsuit chose the location for its cover shoot with Kate Upton in 2013. Now a luxury travel company is eager to make the remote destination even more special for travelers by offering a gourmet dining experience in this rarely seen region of the world.

Yes, pioneers of luxury travel on this continent — White Desert — recently announced the launch of their second camp called Wolf's Fang. The camp, opening in November, is set to give a few travelers the opportunity to vacation on a glacier in the mountains of Queen Maud Land. But, of course, part of that experience includes a meal to remember.

Foodies will enjoy a range of unique gourmet dining experiences, including a "South Pole" menu that's reminiscent of the original polar expeditions, a five-course tasting menu and a picnic set up at the base of a nunatak where champagne chilled in 10,000-year-old glacial ice will be served.

White Desert's newest camp features a luxurious design yet still has a minimal impact on the environment. Up to two guests can sleep in one of the six heated tents with decor that harkens back to the golden age of polar exploration (think leather and canvas). The large communal tent for relaxing and dining boasts a similar design scheme, complete with a vintage prospector oven.

While onsite, guests will have the chance to try their hand at activities that range from ice climbing to abseiling, fat biking and gentle hiking to the summit of nearby peaks. Expert guides will support the guests every step of the way, and the 24 hours of continuous sunshine mean the days are endless.

The company's flagship camp, Whichaway, is a collection of luxury pods with stunning views across the freshwater lakes of the Schirmacher Oasis. The new camp is part of the company's mission to "allow people other than scientists and polar explorers to see the wonders of the interior of Antarctica, which fewer than 1,000 tourists per year visit."

Today, White Desert is the only company to offer private jet service to Antarctica via its own Gulfstream. It takes off out of Cape Town, South Africa, and lands on a runway at Wolf's Fang made of blue ice. The cost for the once in a lifetime meal? Prices for trips staying at Wolf's Fang start from $45,000. This base price includes an eight-day booking accompanied by only 11 other guests per adventure.
