Petra Němcová has always been health conscious. But the 2003 SI Swimsuit cover model now dedicates her life to promoting well-being and even founded a vegan and cruelty-free beauty line. With this goal of nourishing her body, Petra turned to nutritionist Dr. Daryl Gioffre — the best-selling author of Get Off Your Sugar and Get Off Your Acid — to create an eating plan.
Nemcova’s health journey started because of a history of diabetes in her family and a heart-breaking situation with her grandmother. It was a wake-up call for the model. Over the last 23 years, she has learned how to listen to her body for clues of what it needs. For example, her body rejected animal proteins to ask for healthy plant-based keto fats like avocados and raw almonds to feel best when on the alkaline diet.
“Petra is vegan, gluten-free and alkaline,” Gioffre says. “She follows my strength eating plan, which focuses on eating foods that strengthen your body, foods that strengthen your energy, foods that strengthen your immune system, your focus and mental clarity, and foods that make you burn fat, not sugar. These foods taste delicious and are highly alkalizing, which is why we say strength eating is about eating acid-kicking foods.”
So, what does Nemcova typically eat in a day?
“I always start my day with lots of water first and then a glass of Alkamind Acid-Kicking Greens to make sure I get my quality daily dose of greens. They help with many other things apart from helping to reduce inflammation, keeping my body in an alkaline state,” she says. Nemcova
will often drink celery juice on an empty stomach and Moringa tea because it is filled with a huge amount of nutrients and gives light energy. She doesn’t drink water with meals, just between them.
“Most days, she’ll have Hot Chia pudding, one of my favorite recipes, which is loaded with nutrients and doesn’t need cooking which degrades the nutrients,” says Gioffre. Nemcova makes the pudding with hemp seeds, maca, one spoon of coconut oil, grounded sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon and one spoon of organic almond butter.
“I also make zucchini almond-flour muffins which my son loves,” adds Nemcova, mom to toddler Bodhi . “Homemade vegan, gluten-free bread or cereal made just from quinoa. Sometimes fruits, but I never mix fruits with other food, and I always eat melons separately.”
Nemcova’s go-tos for this meal are quinoa with vegetables, avocado, vegan curry with tofu or tempeh, red lentils pasta and vegan pizza.
Nemcova snacks on carrot, cucumber and zucchini sticks with guacamole. “I also make incredible protein balls for my son and me,” she says. “We have Cassava crackers that are local and great alone, with avocado and little homemade tomato sauce, or just sea salt. Flaxseed crackers with almond butter or avocado. Just simple nuts. Protein shakes are a daily ritual in my family. “We have a lot of soups with calabash, which is a little bit like pumpkin but even more incredible,” says Nemcova. “Split pea, chayote, miso or vegetable soups. I love green and red lentils as a soup or main course. Sometimes I’ll have this with a delicious salad.” She finishes her day with a glass of Alkamind Acid-Kicking Minerals 20 minutes before bed.
