Alex Morgan Welcomes a New Teammate

U.S. women’s national soccer team striker Alex Morgan celebrated her first Mother’s Day yesterday after welcoming daughter Charlie Elena Carrasco on Thursday. The couple announced baby Charlie’s arrival on Instagram Saturday.

"She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby," Morgan wrote.

Morgan won her second World Cup championship last summer and had planned to be back in form to play with the USWNT in Tokyo this July. She joined the team for some light training back in February while 7 months pregnant. With the Summer Olympics postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19, Morgan will have plenty of time to prepare for her next gold medal.
