Five Size Inclusive Swimwear Brands That SI Swimsuit Model Georgina Burke Swears By
Georgina Burke knows a thing or two about size inclusivity (or lack thereof) in the fashion industry. The 32-year-old Australian native began modeling when she was just 17 and was scouted in her hometown. An agent at the time told her that they would sign her on the spot under the condition that she lose weight.
“I was about a size 10 at the time. I tried my hardest and it sucked,” Burke recalled. “As a [teenager], getting told to ‘lose weight,’ you do fall victim to that. I fell into anorexia. Honestly, it’s taken many years [to recover] and it’s something that I’m going to forever be working on, especially as a woman in the fashion industry.”
Burke made her SI Swimsuit debut last year and has worked with major brands including Saks Fifth Avenue, J.Crew and Bloomingdale’s in the past. She described her SI Swimsuit magazine feature as a “huge milestone” in her career and noted that her experience with the team was incredible and quite different from other companies she has modeled for.
“I walked on set and [editor in chief] MJ [Day] was so incredible because she said, ‘If there’s any swim you don’t feel like comfortable in, you don’t wear it,’” Burke explained. “That doesn’t happen on a shoot. She’s so about the woman feeling empowered and beautiful and confident.”

During her 2023 SI Swimsuit photo shoot with photographer Ben Watts in Puerto Rico, Burke shared her five favorite swimwear brands.
“I tried to pick size-inclusive brands because I think that is super important and it matters,” she said.
Burke NYC
“First I would have to say my own brand, Burke NYC,” she said. “It’s a full size-inclusive range with in-built tummy control and holds in the girls. It’s just a one-stop shop for a girl of my size.”

Polo Ralph Lauren Swimwear
Burke has modeled for Polo Ralph Lauren Swim for more than a decade.
“I’ve been fortunate enough that Sports Illustrated have let me wear it [during my shoot] two years in a row,” she shared.
