Maggie Rawlins made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2021. The registered nurse was breaking into the modeling industry, landing on the cover of Elle Croatia, when the pandemic hit. She immediately returned to New York City hospitals as a front-line worker to give back to her city.

“I feel like everyone has a role and responsibility to play during the pandemic,” the South Carolina native told People. “Since I have an active nursing license, I felt like [returning to the medical industry] was the right thing to do. That city has been so good to me, and I wanted to give back.”

Rawlins was determined to pursue modeling while simultaneously moving further in her nursing career.

“Through modeling, I have an incredible platform to raise awareness about causes I care about. I always keep my nurses license active so I can volunteer with OneWorld Health, and step in when needed,” she continued. “SI Swimsuit created such an empowering and respectful environment. It was such a thrill to be asked to work with such an iconic brand. From the interviews to the shoots, I always felt like they wanted to represent me well. I just love the focus on diversity. It is so empowering to work with their team. They are so focused on celebrating women, and I think that is a positive influence on our whole society.”
