Izabel Goulart’s SI Swimsuit debut in 2011 was a memorable one, as the Brazilian model posed for not one but two features. That year, a traditional beachside photo shoot took place in Singapore with Steve Erle, in addition to a unique body paint feature. For the latter, Goulart worked with photographer Stewart Shining and makeup artist Joanne Gair in a New York studio. She returned to the magazine the following year after posing for Bjorn Iooss in Panama.

In addition to her work with SI Swimsuit, Goulart is most recognized as a former Victoria’s Secret Angel. She has also worked with notable brands like Armani Exchange, David Koma, Alberta Ferretti and more. Today, the 38-year-old is working on launching a fitness platform, Body by Iza.

She called her SI Swimsuit body paint feature, which was her first time working with the medium, a “great experience.” Goulart wore a painted-on blue bikini with a paisley pattern and ruffled top and bottom, both with gold keyhole accents.

“Oh yeah, sure, I’ll do that again,” Goulart said toward the end of her photo shoot. She noted with a laugh that the ensemble was one she would proudly wear to Carnival, an annual street festival in her native Brazil.

Below are 10 of our favorite photos from her body paint feature in 2011.
