When she posed for her rookie SI Swimsuit photo shoot in 2017, Swedish-Australian model Kelly Gale traveled to Sumba Island, Indonesia, where she worked with photographer James Macari.

Known for her work with Victoria’s Secret, the 28-year-old has also collaborated with notable brands like Free People, Bottega Veneta, Helmut Lang and others. She initially got her start in the industry at the age of 13. Gale has also appeared in an Enrique Iglesias music video, for the track “Duele el Corazón.” As an actress, she was featured in Plane, an action-thriller starring Gerard Butler.

At the time of her SI Swimsuit feature in 2017, Gale expressed her gratitude over the opportunity on Instagram.

“I am so excited to finally announce that I will be featured in the 2017 issue of @SI_Swimsuit!” she wrote alongside a stunning photograph from the feature. “To work for SI has been one of my goals ever Since I started modeling ... Much love to @jamesmacari for working his magic behind the camera! Thank you @mj_day and all the other @si_swimsuit family for an incredible shoot and making me feel so welcomed. I feel truly honored to be a part of this.”

While on location in Asia, Gale modeled several itty-bitty, colorful two-piece swimsuits, and even wore a necklace as a swimsuit top. Below, find just a few of our favorite photos of the model and actress from her rookie feature in Indonesia, captured by Macari.
