One-time SI Swimsuit model Bethany Dempsey had the exciting and unique experience of participating in one of the brand’s iconic bodypainting features in 2010. The North Carolina native is married to retired Fulham, Tottenham, New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders FC pro soccer player Clint Dempsey. He is known as one of the best goal scorers in U.S. National Team history, and a National Soccer Hall of Famer.

The educational psychologist was photographed by Yu Tsai and worked with talented artist Joanne Gair to create the most beautiful and intricate floral bikini and ultra-cropped U.S. jersey for her SI Swimsuit feature. The 2010 magazine also featured fellow wives and girlfriends of World Cup players at the time, including Abigail Clancy, Melissa Satta and Sarah Brandner.

“It’s so involved and intricate, I had no idea,” she said about the painting and posing process while on location in the New York City studio. “The results are amazing so far, so I can’t wait to see the final product.” She added that despite not wearing any physical clothing, she felt confident and comfortable in front of the creative team on set.

The Dempsey duo tied the knot in 2007 and are parents to six beautiful children. They met while studying at Furman University in South Carolina.

In honor of the feature, we’re throwing it back to four stunning photos of Dempsey from her 2010 SI Swimsuit feature, below.
