When Winnie Harlow found out that she was going to be featured in the 2019 issue of SI Swimsuit, her excitement was only matched by her family. Much as she was, they were “ecstatic” about the opportunity.

“They have been so supportive throughout my entire career, so making my debut in SI Swim reminds not just me, but them, why I do what I do and affirms their never-ending support,” Harlow told us at the time of her feature. “I hope I can continue to make them proud.”

Her brand debut brought her to the vibrant blue waters and white sand beaches of Great Exuma, Bahamas, where she posed for photographer Laretta Houston in a series of stunning bikinis and one-pieces.

There, she joined the ranks of incredible women who have graced the pages of the issue, and some who had been inspirations for her. “Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks have been huge influences and even mentors of mine, especially as models of color,” she said. “They helped paved the way for our beauty to be celebrated. And of course, how can I forget the gorgeous Kate Upton, perhaps the most iconic SI model.”

With such models to look up to and impressive talent of her own, we never had any doubt that Harlow would bring her best to the beaches of the Caribbean nation. Here are a handful of our favorites from the day.
