Beauty guru and activist Nyma Tang is known for leading the charge in inclusivity in the beauty space. In her YouTube series, “The Darkest Shade,” she tests out various foundation and concealer products and advocates for brands to create more diverse shades in their lines.

“When I first started my channel, I could count on one hand the [number] of foundations that I could find that would fit my skin tone,” she told SI Swimsuit last year. “And now, the last time I checked I had 20.”

In honor of her work, the vlogger recently received the YouTube Content Creator Award for her contributions to the industry. And two years ago, Tang was a rookie in the SI Swimsuit Issue. She traveled to Hollywood, Fla., for her magazine feature.

Tang, who has partnered with brands like CVS, MAC Cosmetics and Dose of Colors, hopes to facilitate long-lasting change in the industry through her work.

“My goal for this entire life journey is to make the beauty industry as diverse as I can make it in my lifetime,” she added. “The worst thing about life is living unhappy in your skin. I don’t want that for young girls. I want to make sure I have done my part and then after that we can all rest easy—at least I can rest easy and feel like I’ve fulfilled this purpose all my life.”

Below are just a few of our favorite photos from Tang’s SI Swimsuit feature in Florida, captured by Ben Watts.
