Alexis Ren was photographed by Yu Tsai in Aruba.

Though Alexis Ren has only posed for the SI Swimsuit Issue once, her 2018 feature in Aruba made a major impression. After posing on the sand and in the water for photographer Yu Tsai, she earned Rookie of the Year honors for her incredible feature.

A model, actress and media personality, Ren was clearly comfortable on set with the SI Swimsuit team, and put some of her dance background on display in front of Yu Tsai’s lens. The classically trained ballerina was also a contestant on Dancing With the Stars the same year she was featured in the annual magazine. Ren, a California native, placed fourth on the television show.

Many fans know Ren as the original social media influencer, as she rose to fame on platforms like Tumblr, YouTube and Instagram at a young age. With her SI Swimsuit feature, she hoped to convey a message of self-love to her many loyal fans.

“You are enough. It’s O.K. not to be O.K. You’re not alone,” she told us at the time of her brand messaging. “Those are the top three things I go off the bat about. I love talking to them because I love seeing where my presence in this world affected has affected their own life. To know I affected a person thousands of miles away just because I lived my life to the fullest as much as I possibly can and I inspired them to do the same. It doesn’t get better than that.”

Below are just a few of our favorite photos of Ren showing off her athletic abilities in Aruba.
