Bethany Dempsey was featured in the 2010 SI Swimsuit Issue when she participated in a unique body paint feature with photographer Yu Tsai and makeup artist Joanne Gair. That year, the Swim Team chose to feature wives and girlfriends of World Cup players in the magazine, including Abigail Clancy, Melissa Satta and Sarah Brandner.

Dempsey is married to Clint Dempsey, a former pro soccer player who played for Fulham, Tottenham, New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders FC throughout his career. The National Soccer Hall of Fame star is known as one of the best goal scorers in the history of the U.S. national team. Today, the Dempseys are proud parents to five children.

For her SI Swimsuit feature, Dempsey donned a painted-on patterned bikini top and bottoms with a torn U.S. soccer jersey across her shoulders.

“It’s so involved and intricate, I had no idea,” she said at the time, noting that she felt comfortable during the paint application process and while posing. “The results are amazing so far, so I can’t wait to see the final product.”

Below are six incredible photos of Dempsey from her SI Swimsuit body paint feature 13 years ago.
