Ellie Thumann traveled to Puerto Rico for her rookie photo shoot with SI Swimsuit, where she posed for photographer Derek Kettela. The 21-year-old is best known for her YouTube channel, where she vlogs about fashion, lifestyle and beauty content. Thumann got her start in the modeling industry at a young age, when she performed print and runway work alongside her mother. 

The mental health advocate called her day on location with SI Swimsuit “surreal,” adding that she felt right at home on set while posing for the 2023 magazine.

“I’m very proud of myself because [modeling] can be a very intimidating, vulnerable thing, but everyone’s made me feel very comfortable and very confident in myself and [are] reminding me why I’m here,” she admitted. “And it just means a lot to just have amazing people that are making me feel so good.”

Thumann shared that she’s presently the healthiest version of herself she’s ever been, both inward and outward, which she hopes shines through in her images.

“When women see my photos, I would love for them to take away inspiration towards letting [beauty] radiate from the inside out, because I think that’s really what makes all of these photos and the whole experience more special,” she told SI Swimsuit.
