South African model Genevieve Morton is a seasoned Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, having made six appearances in the annual issue over the years. She made her 2010 debut in Palm Springs, California and appeared in the magazine each year after through 2015.

In 2013, the 37-year-old made her way to Hayman Island, Australia for her fourth consecutive SI Swim photoshoot alongside photographer James Macari.

That year, the model also sat down with the team to talk everything from her previous SI photoshoots to her biggest phobias.

During the conversation, Morton revealed that she was a full-time student and a model all-in-one during her early years with the issue. She talked the difficulties of balancing her school work and her modeling gigs, particularly while on set with SI Swim in Fiji in 2011.

“When I shot the Fiji shoot for Sports Illustrated, I was actually doing my assignments during the lunch break of the shoot and trying to get the internet to work on the island,” she said of her second year with the issue. Morton’s revelation highlighted some of the interesting behind the scenes details about the models that aren’t always captured in the stunning final photographs.

Her studies were “very challenging, but it’s been very rewarding” as well, Morton said.
