9 Adventurous Photos of the Glamorous Julie Henderson in Chile
In 2010, Julie Henderson traveled 24 hours to reach a somewhat remote location in the Atacama Desert, Chile, for her fourth consecutive appearance in the annual SI Swimsuit Issue.
The seven-time SI Swimsuit model posed for photographer Raphael Mazzucco among “amazing landscapes,” she said of the location. While she seemed to enjoy it all, one of her favorite parts was definitely a stop at a salt lake in the desert. “There were some really beautiful pictures [taken] there,” she explained.
But the series of unique photoshoot locations didn’t end there. The team traveled together to an altitude of 15,000 feet to take a series of photos next to Chilean volcanoes. “I don’t know how it’s going to be. They tell us it’s going to be kinda cold, kinda windy. But here we go—swimsuit survivor,” she joked.
Though it was a bit of a daunting experience, Henderson was up for the challenge. The location made for some incredible photos of the model running along a desert road in a butterfly patterned string bikini, shawl and boots.
We would be hard-pressed to choose our favorite photos from the unique South American trip. But below are nine of the adventurous snaps depicting Henderson’s natural beauty—and that of Chile, too.
Now through Nov. 1, 100% of SI Swimsuit’s portion of proceeds from cover prints purchased here will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, which is helping to support the people and places of Maui affected by the recent wildfires.
