Alex Morgan was photographed by Adam Franzino on Guana Island.

Almost a decade ago, professional soccer star Alex Morgan made her way to the set of an SI Swimsuit photoshoot for the second time in her career. In 2014, she traveled to Guana Island with photographer Adam Franzino for her second feature in the annual issue, following up on her 2012 New York studio debut with the brand.

The photoshoot was just how you might imagine it would be: powerful, vibrant and so fun. And the final photos captured all of Morgan’s beauty and skill, along with the idyllic surroundings in which she posed on the set in the British Virgin Islands.

Most importantly, we got the chance to learn just a bit more about the iconic athlete and USWNT star, and Morgan was just as lovable as she is talented.

The athlete was “so excited” to return to the SI Swimsuit set for a second time. “It was just such a fun experience,” she said of her trip to Guana Island. “The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit team is such a family, and because everyone has worked together for so long, they’re all on the same page.”

The 34-year-old returned to the issue in 2019, traveling to St. Lucia with a couple of her USWNT teammates and posing for another round of stunning photos, which ultimately landed her on the cover.

And while we’re absolutely enamored with all of her features, today we’re taking a look back at that sophomore photoshoot in the British Virgin Islands. Here are some of the dazzling photos from the day.
