Anne de Paula Shines in These 9 Photos From the Dominican Republic

The four-time SI Swimsuit model shared her thoughts on the concept of beauty while in the Caribbean country.

Anne de Paula, a 2017 Swim Search finalist, has been featured in the annual issue four separate times. Her most recent feature came with a trip to the Dominican Republic with photographer Kate Powers. While there, the Brazilian model took the chance to reflect on what beauty means to her.

For her, “everything makes a person beautiful,” she explained while on set in the Caribbean country. “It’s not the way a person looks. Everyone should feel beautiful when they wake up, everybody should feel good with themselves.”

According to de Paula, the unique parts of the SI Swimsuit photoshoots—the chance to talk, be yourself, smile—were the means by which the models could show their beauty. It is not about outward looks, according to her, but personality and showing your true self.

“We get to have so much fun and people get to see our personalities,” she remarked. “Personality is [part of] beauty. Personality makes someone stand out. When somebody’s nice, polite and a good person, [it] adds together and makes [them beautiful].”

The model certainly showed her personality—and her beauty—on set in the tropical destination. Here are nine of our favorite photos from de Paula’s incredible trip.

Now through Nov. 1, 100% of SI Swimsuit’s portion of proceeds from cover prints purchased here will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, which is helping to support the people and places of Maui affected by the recent wildfires.
