Bella Hadid Literally Wears ‘Nothing At All’ in First Magazine Cover Following Modeling Hiatus
After taking almost a year off from modeling to focus on her health and treatments for Lyme disease, Bella Hadid is back with a bang. The 2022 Model of the Year just starred on the spring/summer 2024 cover of Perfect magazine and she wore nothing at all—as she literally wore a paper covering that read “Absolutely nothing. Nothing at all.”
The 27-year-old worked with photographer Bryce Anderson, and she directed the art for the photoshoot herself, with the help of fashion editor Katie Grand. Her brown locks were voluminous, wavy and parted to one side by hairstylist Akki Shirakawa, while makeup artist Sam Visser opted for a 1990s-inspired thin brow and exaggerated blush look, allowing Hadid’s natural freckles to shine.
The entire feature pulled inspiration from a 1978 image of Debbie Harry performing in a dress made from nothing but but a poster she had taken from the wall outside a concert venue. Hadid’s apparel was custom made by Corbin Shaw.
The issue, set to ship on Feb. 15, is aptly titled “Poster Girl.”
Hadid is self-aware of the fact that she is a fashion and beauty icon for women everywhere, and nearly everything she steps out in, or shares online, will be copied. She finds it “flattering,” but is honest about the fact that she herself draws bits and pieces from other people’s aesthetics and styles.
“When I was younger and starting to explore with beauty and make-up, I would use products more so to create a look or different persona. Now I see it as more of a tool to enhance or express how I’m feeling,” Hadid said. “I really can’t take full credit for my looks since I take inspiration from so many different places. I’m kind of like a sponge like that, just soaking up everything around me at all times, so my looks are always a culmination of all of the influences I encounter through all walks of my life – on set, on the street, online. I like to switch up my look depending on how I’m feeling.”
