Beyoncé Served Ultimate Pop Star Vibes in Florida for Her SI Swim Cover Photo Shoot

The 32-time Grammy Award winner made her mark with the magazine in 2007.

If anyone can steal the spotlight from the Super Bowl, it’s Ms. Beyoncé Knowles. The 32-time Grammy Award-winning singer dropped two brand new songs and teased an upcoming album during last night’s Big Game. In honor of the iconic announcement, we’re throwing it back to her equally legendary SI Swimsuit cover photo shoot in 2007.

The 42-year-old, who debuted her tracks “Texas Hold ’Em” and and “16 Carriages” following her Super Bowl commercial with Verizon last night, was photographed by Cliff Watts in Key Biscayne, Fla., almost two decades ago.

“I’m not a model, I’m not an athlete, and I’m on the cover of Sports Illustrated. It’s amazing to me and I never thought it would happen. It’s great for us, our clothing line, House of Deréon, I’m wearing all of our swimsuits. My mother was able to design them. It’s a great launch for us. And I’ve never done a swimsuit spread. What better place to do that [than] a magazine that’s so classy and so elegant, still very sexy, but in a very, very upscale way,” she gushed of the opportunity. “It is a music issue. Music and fashion, they go hand in hand. When these beautiful models are posing for their shoots, they’re listening to music. We’re all inspired by music and I think it’s so great that they’re acknowledging us musicians.”

Today, the mom of three, who shares her children with husband and fellow musician Jay-Z, continues to drop incredible new music and take the fashion, music and entertainment industries by storm. She also recently announced her upcoming haircare line, Cécred, set to launch on Feb. 20.
