Brooklyn Decker to co-star in new Netflix comedy Grace & Frankie
AFTER HEARING the news back in May that Brooklyn Decker’s show Friends with Better Lives was cancelled, we (selfishly) recoiled at the thought of a Brooklyn dry-spell. Then, yesterday, it broke that our 2010 cover model had signed on to co-star in Netflix’s newest show Grace & Frankie. This, in addition to four movie appearances set to release within the next year or so, should probably keep us satiated. For now.
Below we've rounded up the scoops on Brooklyn's upcoming big and little screen projects, followed by some —and some never-before-seen—shots from our 2011 shoot with the model on the set of her first film.
Grace & Frankie
Not that we're surprised, but this cast consists of some big names—think Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, not to mention Ethan Embry who some of you might remember from Can't Hardly Wait and Empire Records (Mark with a 'K'...). Brooklyn will play Mallory, the daughter of Fonda’s character, described as “a classic beauty” (obviously) who is struggling with her own marital bliss.
The show, created by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris (Home Improvement, According to Jim) centers around two frenemies who discover their husbands are in love with one other and plan to wed. Grace & Frankie will release on Netflix next year so while you wait feel free to watch old episodes of Friends of Better Lives. You can even use Brooklyn's hashtag of choice,#saveFWBL—even if it's a little late for that.
Stretch
Though Stretch has struggled with some release date issues, Collider reports the director plans to hit the festival circuit with the low budget comedy-thriller. We don't know much about Brooklyn's role, but with a cast that also stars Jessica Alba, Chris Pine and Ed Helms we’re willing to wait it out for this one.
Casual Encounters
Wouldn’t you like to share a casual encounter with this beauty? Well you can, sort of, as she’s set to appear alongside in the rom-com about online dating that stars a number of proven comedic stars (SNL's Taran Killiam,This is the End's David Krumholz). IMDB lists the flick as in post-production.
Also...
Brooklyn will appear alongside a stacked cast in an untitled Warren Beatty project set to premiere next May; she is currently filming an indie film directed by Andrew Bujalski whose credits include the wholly strange Computer Chess. Consider us very intrigued.
