Chase Carter Modeled Neon Bikinis Amid the Bright Blue Waters of the Bahamas
Bahamian model Chase Carter joined the SI Swimsuit family in 2018. That year, she headed to her native Bahamas for a striking photo shoot captured by photographer Ben Watts. It was her debut with the brand, and she made the absolute most of it.
For the 26-year-old, joining the ranks of the magazine’s models who came before her was not something she had always envisioned. She never planned to become a model, it just happened. Growing up in the Bahamas, Carter played a whole host of sports, and she was even on the junior national team for the javelin throw. She considered herself an athlete, not a model, and was looking to continue her sports career in college. But then, she was discovered at an airport.
“This woman came up to me and she said, ‘Have you ever thought about modeling?’” Carter explained at the time of her brand debut. “I was really into sports and played sports because it was my thing. When I started modeling, I appreciated the experience. I love meeting new people. I love going to new places.”
She embraced it wholeheartedly, and eventually her newfound career brought her right back to the Bahamas for her SI Swimsuit feature. The whole experience was incredibly meaningful for Carter.
“Always such an honor and privilege to be apart of such a beautiful organization,” she remarked in an Instagram post during the 2018 Miami Swim Week. “@si_swimsuit no one could have pulled this weekend off like you did. You make every single person out there feel so special, beautiful, safe and always taken care of. BIG SHOUT OUT to @mj_day no one can do what this super human does! You never sell anyone short of giving them the full MJ!”
Her joy in being featured in the publication was evident in the beautiful photos that she posed for that year. Here are just a few of our favorites.
