Chrissy Teigen’s Breathtaking SI Swim Debut in the Maldives Will Make You Feel Ultra Nostalgic
Chrissy Teigen made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2010, when she was named Rookie of the Year. Right from that moment, there was no denying she would become a star. The model, entrepreneur, mom of four and culinary star was first photographed for the magazine by Walter Iooss Jr. in the Maldives. She returned to the pages of SI for seven consecutive years after that, traveling to tons of cool new places, including the Philippines, Seychelles, Indonesia, Chile and Zanzibar.
In 2014, the 37-year-old landed the coveted cover of the iconic 50th anniversary SI Swimsuit issue alongside Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge following her photoshoot with James Macari in the Cook Islands.
“I think just my confidence level changed a lot, but once you get there and you see [editor in chief] MJ [Day] rooting you on and this team of people just rooting you on, you’re happy to do it,” she told People in 2017 about posing for the publication postpartum after the birth of her first child. “But I was for sure nervous, I still had my belly line, I mean, I had my stitches. I could get into a lot. You don’t even want to know!”
She explained in an interview with SI Swimsuit that stripping down in front of the magazine’s team is different than doing so anywhere else.
“It’s not hard being naked in front of this group of people, because everyone is so, first of all, warm and welcoming about like a curvy body and a beautiful silhouette, so that’s different,” Teigen said. “Everyone’s really reassuring of the female, feminine body here, so it’s really nice.”
