USWNT star Crystal Dunn had quite a year in 2019. Not only was the New York native part of the winning FIFA Women’s World Cup team, she also traveled to St. Lucia for her feature in the SI Swimsuit Issue.

During her collegiate career, Dunn played soccer for the North Carolina Tar Heels and was selected No. 1 in the 2014 NWSL draft by the Washington Spirit. Today, she plays midfielder for the Portland Thorns FC.

The same year she posed for the magazine, fellow USWNT stars Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Abby Dahlkemper were also featured in the fold, a moment Dunn referred to as “amazing.”

“When I look at our team or when I look at society in general I think there’s so many different shapes and sizes of people… And I think that’s basically what our team is made up of—so many people from so many different walks of life,” she explained

In addition to her role on the pitch, Dunn is a proud mom. She and her husband, Pierre Soubrier, welcomed a a baby boy named Marcel last May.

“Being a mother has allowed me to take on this new identity but do it authentic to who I am and do it in a way that allows me to be the best teammate, player and person I can be,” she told NBC Sports this summer of how motherhood has changed her for the better.

Below are a few of our favorite photographs Ben Watts captured of Dunn in the stunning Caribbean country.
