Raised in the beach town of San Clemente in Orange County, sisters Oleema and Kalani Miller practically grew up in bathing suits. When it came time to choose a career, the sisters didn't have to do much soul searching. "Being sisters who grew up on the beach, having a bikini company was always a dream," Kalani explains. "With a background as part of the Roxy surf team since we were 10 and 12, being in the surf and swim industry has definitely been a playground for us."

The playground has treated the sisters nicely. MIKOH got its first national exposure in the 2010 SI Swimsuit issue when Julie Henderson rocked a Skyler one-piece and the company has taken off since. The suits have been spotted on a number of celebrities including Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, Brooke Burke, Leann Rimes, Annalyn McCord, Denise Richards "and of course our favorite SI ladies," Miller laughs. The company's unique name is derived from the sister's last name (Miller) and the first initial of Kalani and Oleema's name as well as their younger sister (Hana). In Japanese, Miko is a term that anciently meant a "female shaman" or a "female prophecy."

Though the name is catchy, it's the sisters' irresistible designs that have us wishing the summer won't end. And the duo have more tricks up their sleeve for 2014. "For the 2014 MIKOH Collection, we are beyond thrilled to introduce the MIKOH X SURF Collection, which is a capsule collection with ALL things Neoprene. We have a surfing background and grew up in the surf and on a board, so we are beyond thrilled to introduce these pieces," Miller explains. As for the longterm future, even Miller isn't sure what to expect. "It has already been such a wild roller coaster these last five years and we are beyond thrilled to see where MIKOH can be in 5, 10, 50 years! "

Q&A Excerpts

SwimDaily:What has is been like working with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit? What does your company do to prepare for the Swimsuit year to come?

Kelani Miller: We absolutely LOVE the SI family. Being sisters, MIKOH has really become a family affair. Our brother, Jason, is our web designer, our mom and dad are always there to lend a hand, and our sister always helps whenever she is in town as well. We are definitely recruiting her for when she completes college. Seeing how Sports Illustrated is also a close knit traveling family, it has been amazing to link up and bond with them. We love them and love creating one of a kind pieces for the stunning ladies to rock.

SD: Where do you see swim trends in 10 years?

KM: There is nothing like a classic suit. MIKOH has prided itself on developing the best cuts that are bound to stay timeless. We love all the string details and I definitely think that banding details will always be a classic.

SD: What does the 50th anniversary of the Swimsuit Issue mean to you?
