Between highly-anticipated Christmas Eve NFL games, Monday Night Football and the dozens of other professional events that take place over the holiday season, the past few days were replete with activities primed for family bonding. You may not know anything of note about a certain sport or team, but attending a game with your family can still be a nice means of spending time with your loved ones.
That must have been the mentality with which Olivia Dunne took to the New Jersey Devils hockey game on Dec. 23. The LSU gymnast admitted that she is not an avid Devils fan (or a fan of the sport in general), but the holiday weekend still found her in the stands for the team’s home game against the Detroit Red Wings.
The short clip that she shared to her TikTok featured a confused-looking Dunne in a red knit sweater—a festive shade that likewise expressed her support for the Devils—and a black Prada beanie. “Just a ⚾️ girly trying to understand 🏒,” she wrote on the video, which stitched together the 21-year-old’s view of the game with her skeptical facial expressions.
“what the puck is going on,” she joked in the caption of the video.
“I’m confused too😭🙏,” one fan commiserated with the gymnast.
“I totally understand. Hockey is an acquired taste!” another noted.
“Same,” Savannah Bananas baseball player Jackson Olson joked.
As the girlfriend of Paul Skenes, a professional baseball player, it’s no surprise that Dunne is a fan of the sport. Hockey on the other hand? She’s not so sure about it.
