Georgia Gibbs was “over the moon” when she got the confirmation that she would appear in the 2018 SI Swimsuit Issue. Though extremely excited, when she got to the set in Aruba, she found that she was also nervous. With the help of photographer Yu Tsai and his words of encouragement, as the day progressed, the Australian model found herself becoming “more and more comfortable,” she said on set. Ultimately, “it was an amazing day.”

Even at the end of her photoshoot, both her elation and disbelief were as high as they were at the start. “I still can’t believe they chose me, and I’m here shooting SI Swim,” she expressed. For Gibbs, the experience wasn’t just a “dream” or a “personal achievement.” Rather, it was a fitting moment for the model. “Everything the brand stands for just resonates with me so well,” she said of the aligned opportunity.

With her magazine feature, she was both “humbled” and “excited” for the opportunity to represent other women who “also have insecurities.” And by all standards, Gibbs knocked her Caribbean photoshoot out of the park. Below are a handful of her best snaps from the day of dancing among the bright blue waters and verdant green trees of Aruba.
