Kate Upton Takes Our Breath Away in Stunning Fiji Photos
Kate Upton has been featured on the cover of the SI Swimsuit Issue three times over a span of five years. She has also inspired a number of other younger models who are now a part of the SI Swimsuit family.
After being named Rookie of the Year in 2011, Upton landed the cover in ’12 (Australia) and ’13 (Antarctica). She was photographed by James Macari in zero gravity for an incredibly memorable SI Swimsuit photo shoot in 2014.
The 30-year-old landed the cover again in 2017, the same year she married New York Mets pitcher Justin Verlander. Upton posed for the magazine again in ’18 in Aruba, and she and Verlander welcomed their daughter, Genevieve, in November of that year.
Despite being one of the best-known SI Swimsuit models, Upton knows she is not perfect, and neither is her relationship with loving her body at all times.
“I’m still not confident in a bathing suit. That’s why you eat healthy and work out, to feel your best. You always have struggles,” she said in a 2017 interview with Yahoo. “It’s not like I always feel my best. Everybody has moments where they don’t feel confident in a bikini. It’s what we’re striving for: self-love. We work our way up. When I don’t feel my best, that’s OK. I’m not trying to be fit for a number on a scale. Whenever I’m happiest, I try to maintain that.”
