Athlete Kim Glass traded her volleyball uniform for several tiny bikinis when she posed for the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2011. The Los Angeles native traveled to Banff, Canada, for her magazine feature, which found her posing in front of a gorgeous backdrop of mountains, rivers and natural beauty. Her collaboration with photographer Stephan Wurth resulted in some truly stunning images.

Several years before she posed for the magazine, Glass was part of the 2008 U.S. women’s volleyball team at the Beijing Olympics, where she and her teammates secured a silver medal. The now 39-year-old started playing volleyball early on in high school.

“I think within that first year I was like, ‘Yeah this is something that I can be really good at,’” she told The Spun of her love of the sport. “It was super challenging and I had to focus on not just being a raw athlete but also develop movement. I thought that it was a great challenge for me. I had been a cheerleader and just knew I was never going to fly as a cheerleader, so I was like ‘It’s time for me to switch to something new.’ And I turned to volleyball.”

Today, Glass works as a certified trainer and is currently expecting twins. While she shares much of her health and fitness content on Instagram with her 49,700 followers, Glass is also documenting her pregnancy journey for fans on YouTube. While she initially announced that she was expecting on social media at the beginning of this month, Glass revealed on Feb. 13 that she is having twins.

In honor of her exciting life news, we’re throwing it back to a few of our favorite snaps from her SI Swimsuit feature in 2011.
