Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2017, when she traveled to Sumba Island, Indonesia with photographer James Macari. The 33-year-old returned to the fold the following two years, when she posed for visual artist Ben Watts on the breathtaking beaches of Harbour Island, Bahamas, and was reunited with Macari in the lush rainforests of Costa Rica. Her most recent feature was in 2021, when she was captured by Anne Menke in Sacramento, Calif, for a super cool and unique coquette-inspired photo shoot featuring open fields, horses and girly swimwear.

“The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is such a game changer for a model,” Ribeiro reflected of her work with the brand. “It has helped shape and support so many careers of women I look up to, so to be included in my third issue, is a dream come true. MJ [Day, editor in chief] and the SI team are like family and real advocates for strong and empowered women—I am honored to be part of that group.”

The model and mom, who has one teenage son Alexandre, and two stepchildren, Leia and Emaan, got married to former basketball player Joakim Noah in July 2022.

In addition to her work with the SI Swimsuit Issue, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel has also starred in campaigns for luxury labels including Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana and more.

Below are seven of our favorite photos from her SI Swimsuit debut in Indonesia in 2017.
