Lindsey Vonn Is Back in Her ‘Natural Habitat,’ Hitting the Slopes in Her Fitted Blue Ski Suit

She may be retired, but recreational skiing will always be on the books for the athlete.

Lindsey Vonn may have put away her professional ski gear years ago, but that doesn’t mean the alpine skier is done with the slopes for good. Far from it, in fact. This year’s ski season is officially in full swing, which means the athlete herself will be found on the slopes more often than not—from now until the end of spring, most likely.

The 39-year-old made her return to her childhood training grounds of Vail, Colo., this past week, where she had an event in town. While there, Vonn made her way out to Vail Mountain for her first ski day of the season, even taking the chance to hit her namesake run, a steep black diamond aptly named Lindsey’s Run.

The impressive downhill skier took to her Instagram on Dec. 21 to prove to her followers that has absolutely still got it where downhill skiing is concerned. Even after undergoing another knee surgery this past summer, the Minnesota native can still carve on the slopes. In the video, the athlete donned a pair of fitted icy blue snow pants and a white puffer and showed off her impressive speed.

“In my natural habitat! 🩵❄️⛷️ #downhill,” she captioned the reel. We have no doubt that that’s exactly how she feels after spending so much of her childhood and adult years training on the slopes.

It’s late December and only the start of the ski season. Vonn is sure to hit the slopes again before long, and we can’t wait to witness it.
