As Vogue Australia’s February 2024 cover model, actress Nicole Kidman chose to go bold. The 56-year-old Big Little Lies star bravely posed for photographer Steven Klein with a black snake draped over her shoulders like a necklace. For the occasion, her ninth cover with the publication thus far, Kidman also donned a red-and-black Gucci slip dress, Cartier jewelry and a pair of oversized sunglasses.

In an accompanying feature story, the mom of four talked about everything from her decades-long career to the power of female friendships and more. She also noted that, like a snake, she’s constantly “shedding skins” and reinventing herself.

“ ... I remain very open and still very passionate about what I do, and curious. And those elements haven’t been dampened,” she told Vogue Australia of her work as an actress. “You can either become more rigid as you become older, but you can also become more free.”

Both Kidman and the publication shared the striking cover image on Instagram to major fanfare on Jan. 24. Several of Moulin Rouge star’s 9.9 million followers even likened the cover aesthetic to a particular Taylor Swift era.

“Nicole in her Rep era 😮‍💨😮‍💨🐍🐍🖤🖤,” one person noted in the comments section.

“reputation (nicole’s version) 🐍,” someone else concurred.

“She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she is the moment,” another user gushed.

“Kudos for posing with a snake!!!!! I’d be like NOPE!!!!!!” one fan admitted.

“I don’t understand how you just keeping getting BETTER (in all aspects) 😭 GOOD ON YA 👏🏻💞,” another person stated.
