Nicole Williams English Talks Walking Miami Swim Week With Her Daughter

The 2023 rookie opened up about her postpartum experience and her full-circle runway moment.

Among the ranks of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookies this season was an entrepreneur and new mother Nicole Williams English. In January, the Canadian model had her first child, a daughter named India, with husband Larry English.

While seven months pregnant, Williams English set out with photographer Yu Tsai for the Caribbean island of Dominica and her first SI Swimsuit feature. The expectant mother’s rookie photoshoot made for some stunning photos, as Williams English showed off her baby bump and pregnancy glow.

Miami Swim Week was a full-circle moment for the 35-year-old, who walked the SI Swimsuit runway at the W South Beach with her daughter on her hip.

The SI Swimsuit team caught up with Williams English before the show to talk all things postpartum, from her wellness routine during and after pregnancy to her must-haves for baby India. The mom of one had so much to say regarding new motherhood, but she also spoke of her excitement for the runway show that night, in part because her daughter would join her for a spin down the runway and back.

“I'm so excited for the [show]. Nobody knows [that] India’s coming out [onto the stage],” Williams English says. “Everybody keeps asking me, ‘Oh, you brought your daughter?’ I don’t think they realize she’s gonna be in the show. I can’t wait.”

Last year, Williams English and her husband announced that they were expecting in epic fashion on the Miami Swim Week runway. “The last time I was out on that runway, I was barely showing,” she explains. “Larry had to kiss my belly to show people that [I was pregnant].”

As it turns out, the prep work for an infant participating in the runway show was nearly as intensive as for a model. The swimwear designer and entrepreneur had to ensure that baby India, who was newly teething, was prepared. Ahead of the show, Williams English planned to feed India “some good milk,” and “make sure she takes her naps so that she’s happy tonight.”

Baby India cooperated perfectly, making a brief cameo at Miami Swim Week in a light pink outfit with tulle ruffles and a large pair of noise-canceling headphones to protect her ears. She was perched on the hip of her stunning mother, who donned a white one-piece with flattering cutouts and a strappy black number.
