Nine Years of Anne V

Since 2005, devoted readers of the Swimsuit Issue have known they can count on three things: the magazine will feature lots of sun, lots of skin... and lots of Anne V. That’s the year the Russian supermodel made her Swimsuit debut, and she’s been a fixture in the magazine ever since. This week Anne is making her ninth straight appearance in the Swimsuit Issue. In the 50-year history of Swim no model has ever had a longer streak of consecutive appearances, and only Kathy Ireland, who graced our pages 12 different times, has shown up in the Swimsuit Issue more times overall. (Note to Anne: records are made to be broken.) Since her days as a Swim rookie Anne has grown from a relatively unknown young model who barely spoke English to an international superstar: When not traveling the world for SI shoots she has done runway work for dozens of fashion houses, appeared in Victoria’s Secret fashion shows and done cameos in a handful of music videos. Sharp-eyed moviegoers will also spot her in the latest installment of Bruce Willis’s Die Hard series, A Good Day to Die Hard. Still, we prefer seeing Anne in her most natural habitat: the Swimsuit Issue. Here’s a look back at some of her most memorable SI photos, from her first shoot in 2005 (in the Bahamas) to her most recent (in China). Now, two questions. Is it any wonder that our editors (and readers) love her so much? And how can we guarantee she makes that record-breaking 10th appearance next year?
