Paulina Porizkova Bares All in Latest Instagram Post Alongside Important Message About Double Standard of Pleasure and Aging

Paulina Porizkova isn’t afraid to chat about taboo topics, call out issues in society and candidly share how she feels with her followers. 

The SI Swimsuit model, who was featured in the magazine 10 separate years, making her debut in 1983 and landing the cover the following year after her photo shoot in Aruba, elaborated on the double standard that exists when it comes to men and women experiencing pleasure, and how it changes even further with age.

She posed a racy, but symbolic photo of herself posing partially topless in a long black gown while boyfriend Jeff Greenstein’s hand, dressed in a fancy suit and wristwatch, cupped her breast. The 58-year-old showed off her bold smolder and rocked a full glam moment paired with a bold red lip. The creative photo was taken for a recent Vogue Portugal spread.

“Did you know that Anne Bancroft, who played the dangerous older woman seductress Mrs Robinson in The Graduate, was 38? And the young man she seduces, Dustin Hofmann, was 30? Being desirable is having power. The power of consent. You have what everyone wants, and it is in your power to dispense it to whom you want. The desirability factor of men and women is at the opposite sides of the age spectrum,” Porizkova began in her caption. “A woman loses power with age—and the man gains it.”

She further explained that a photo of a young woman showing off her skin can seem like an attention-getter, but it is deemed normal and expected. But, a photo of an older woman doing the same is “unnatural” and pathetic.

“Humans are one of the few species who have sex recreationally. Most of the time when we have sex, it’s for pleasure,” she continued. “(From what I see- the people who seem to take the most pleasure in sex are young men and older women.) So why is it that a sexy photo of a girl who doesn’t know much about sex is preferable to that of a mature woman who knows all about it? It is the most obvious indication of our patriarchal world in which women have mostly been valued as breeding stock.”

Tons of fans and fellow models chimed in to the comments to thank Porizkova for sharing a slightly “uncomfortable” photo in order to destigmatize female pleasure, while also bringing up some thought-provoking ideas.

Porizkova followed up the daring pic with another snap from the feature, and noted that Instagram had deleted her original post, while Greenstein’s and photographer Branislav Simoncik’s remained—a very ironic, yet not surprising occurrence.

“In a way, it perfectly illustrated my point about sex and the older woman being a social taboo,” she wrote.
