Stunning Mountaintop Photos of Olympian Lacy Schnoor During Her Canadian SI Swimsuit Feature
American former professional aerial skier Lacy Schnoor enjoyed a lot of new experiences in 2010. Not only did she make her Olympic debut, competing in the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, but she was also featured in the SI Swimsuit Issue the same year—and in the same country.
That year, the athlete traveled to Whistler, Canada, with the SI Swimsuit team to pose for a series of snow-inspired photos taken by photographer Warwick Saint. It was familiar territory for the athlete, who had competed in her first Olympics in the country in February of that year.
For the photo shoot, she sported a series of white-and-red swimwear looks—and held tight to a pair of skis in the same colors—that really stood out against the bright white mountain backdrop. It was incredible, and just another accolade for the athlete to add to her resume.
Her Olympic performance was likewise impressive. She may not have achieved the result she was looking for—a podium finish in the women’s aerials—but she was proud of herself all the same. “I did my two hardest jumps,” she told Deseret News at the time. “Those are new for me this year. And that’s actually the second competition where I've landed both jumps—that’s why I'm just ecstatic.”
Schnoor finished ninth in her one and only Olympic appearance. Though it didn’t land her a spot on the podium, simply performing in the Winter Games was an accomplishment in its own right.
Schnoor knew that, too. She really couldn’t have “ask[ed] for more,” she admitted after her performance on the biggest stage in sports. We feel similarly about her SI Swimsuit appearance: we couldn’t have asked for better. Below are some of the incredible photos that she posed for in the mountains of Canada.
